How to keep your new puppy alive and healthy.
1. Ensure your puppy receives the full course of three injections for parvovirus to protect their health.
2. Prior to completing the vaccinations, avoid exposing your puppy to other dogs or environments where they may come into contact with infected dogs.
3. Limit their access to grassy areas until they have completed their vaccinations.
4. Use a bleach-based disinfectant to clean soil once a week until fully vaccinated.
5. Provide your puppy with a balanced diet that contains at least 25% protein and 15% fat. Avoid giving them bones, specifically from cows or turkeys.
6. Maintain a clean and safe environment for your puppy by removing small objects that they could chew on and potentially choke on or stuck in their stomach.
7. Once the vaccines are completed, gradually introduce your puppy to other dogs, cats, and humans, especially small children, to encourage proper socialization.
8. Ensure your puppy has plenty of toys to keep them entertained and mentally stimulated.
9. Consider enrolling your puppy in an obedient class, especially since they are a large guard dog breed.
10. Deworm every two weeks then after every month.
And if you are planning to bring them a companion, avoid relatives or interbreeding.
Hope this helps, as it would have saved me a lot of trouble and loss.
