Quid Pro Quo wins the Betway Dingaans Gr 2 🙌🏼
She is in a class of her own!

Congratulations to trainer Barend Botes, owner Mr G C Kalil, and master jockey Striker Strydom! Biggest thank you to Simone and Barend for allowing me the honour of treating this champ. The champagne will be flowing tonight 🥂

Some different animals to feature on this page! 🐈

These are some of the kittens at Turffontein training centre, who are part of the fairly large semi-feral colony there. A lot of the trainers are feeding the adults, as well as any kittens born at their yards.
However, sterilisations are hard to carry out, and as a result, there are lots of kittens being born.

The amazing Simone Kotze, who is a vet and based at Turffontein, has been caring for as many kittens as possible, and also sterilising where possible, but until now a lot of this has been done out of her own pocket.

I’m appealing to my amazing clients and fellow animal lovers, to help with any small donations which will go towards the meds needed to sterilise the adult and young adult cats.
Any small amount helps! Donations could be added to invoices when your horses are treated, paid separately to the bank details on the invoices, or alternatively I could provide people with Dr Simone’s bank details directly.

I’ll be making an effort to update on any of the cats Simone manages to sterilise, as well as any kittens who may need homes (the ones in this post have thankfully all found their families 🩷)

Please feel free to DM or WhatsApp me for any further info. Any help is greatly appreciated!

What an honour to treat Quid Pro Quo today- winner of the 2024 Golden Slipper Gr 2 as well the 2024 Douglas Whyte Stakes Gr 1.
This filly just knows how good she is, and I really felt as though I was in the presence of a celebrity 🤩
Thank you to trainer Barend Botes, and owner Mr G C Kalil for trusting me with this superstar!

The Toyota SA Derby- THE show of the year!
brown.equestrian_ and .veterinaryphysio sponsored Grey Street, starting off with a 7th in the A2.
Then first to go in for the 2-phase, and led for the entire class to win on their clear and very quick round! Only their second 1.20m show, and Streets’ first ever Derby. He is just out of this world!

and Glam Rock 5th in the 1.35m 2-phase, with a flawlessly quick round! The atmosphere on Micro Derby day got to Glam’s chestnut brain a little, and Shan made the call to retire. He is a rockstar of a horse, and will be back to fight another day.

Halley and Branic Lord Latano in their first ever Derby, jumping one of only three clear rounds in the Micro Derby! Unfortunately with Table C format, they were just out of the tickets. But it was a podium finish in our eyes!

and First L clear in the first qualifier, finishing 10th. They qualified mid field for the big one, but it was unfortunately just not Firsty’s day. He is an exceptionally careful and sensitive horse, and after having number 5 down, got a little rattled. Seeing one of my patients walk into the Bob for the big Derby was quite surreal, and I’m unbelievably grateful to know this special horse. He will be back next year!

and Black Tiger 4th in PR 1.10/1.15m A2, and finishing 9th on the final day, in a VERY competitive class.

The biggest heartbreak not getting to watch our Landino step into the Bob for the big one this year. So much goes into getting a horse to this class, and Landino was at his peak. But after a mild colic the week leading up to the show, made the impossible decision to call it a day for him. He is too special, and too much of a trier, to risk jumping such a big show with him not feeling 100%.

Derby is in incredibly tough show, and it takes a very special horse and rider combination to jump around these tracks. Well done to every rider who put on their brave pants!

Eeeek! 🤩
Beyond excited to welcome .brown.equestrian_ and his fabulous Grey Street to team .veterinaryphysio.

Anyone who knows me, knows I am a thoroughbred fan through and through- and this little thoroughbred is one of the best out there!

Streets has recently upgraded to the 1.20m classes (with a ticket in every class at SA Champs!), and is well on his way to the Opens.

I couldn’t be happier to have this team representing in the competition ring. Keep an eye out for them in the 1.20m classes at SA Derby this week!
