Boston Terrier Rescue is made up of a small group of dedicated volunteers from around the country. Together we rescue, rehabilitate and re-home abandoned, unwanted, neglected and surrendered dogs of any age. We network extensively and spread the word about Boston’s in shelters, take fosters into our own homes and conduct extensive home checks to ensure that when we re-home a dog, it is for life. W

e understand that people’s circumstances can change, and we are always happy to assist with surrendered dogs or finding the best possible forever home. Donations can be made to:

Look at this sweet face! How could you say no to giving this lovable bug a second chance? 🐾

Rex has been with us for 2 years now, and we're hoping this post reaches the right person to give him the forever home he deserves. 💕

When Rex first came to us, he was scared and shy, but he's come such a long way! He is now a friendly, social boy who loves spending time outside in a big garden. He’s been living on the farm with A New Hope Rescue. A home with older children would be best.

Rex is good with other dogs and would love a home with furry friends, but he also enjoys his human company. He is sterilised, vaccinated, and chipped—he is all ready to find his forever family. We estimate he's around 4 years old.

If you would like to adopt Rex please email us at [email protected]

Currently, in Johannesburg North at A New Hope, and we're hoping to find him a local home.

Let’s make sure Rex finds the home he has been waiting for. 💖

Help with this week's vet bills please 🙏🏻
We have a couple of Bosties at the doctor's! 😁

Duke had his sterilisation this morning, he will also get microchipped and vaccinated. Hazel will be microchipped and vaccinated too.

Alfie is returning to the vet for follow-up vaccinations and more eye drops.

Panda 🐼 is getting sterilised, vaccinated and chipped before we move him to the kennels (unfortunately there is no foster for him and we just can't get it over our hearts to put him to sleep). So kennel till we can make a better plan (which we also need to pay for).
We also have to pay petrol/travel fees for all the driving around this week ⛽️

Any small donation towards the Bosties' care would be so appreciated.

Sunday Adoption News 📰

Alfie has found his forever home! He’s been going on playdates, and we believe we’ve found the perfect home for him.

We want to thank you all for your offers and willingness to adopt our boy, as well as for supporting us throughout this process.

Alfie is our wild child who really needed a special home. He was a deep-township stray.

He now has people at home all day, two Bosties to chase him around the garden, plenty of plants 🪴 to sneak around without anyone noticing, and a pool to swim in 💦—he’s such a water baby! We finally got it right. He was with us for five months and underwent two surgeries in our care.

Please consider a small donation 🙏🏻 to help us cover his final expenses. These include a vet visit for his eye, a kennel bill, food, and a harness and lead. The total comes to just over R3,000. Once these are settled, Alfie will be officially adopted ♥️, which is the best news ever!

Panda needs your help.

This is the story of Panda - by no fault of his own or his owners - this is just a desperate situation and we want to help. We would love to get Panda into a foster home for rehabilitation, but for that to happen, we need a very specific foster home with no other dogs/cats or small children.

Panda is a sweet boy who is active, playful and loves belly rubs! He is only 2 years old. The bad news - for some reason, small kids makes him nervous and when they get too excited or too close to his face, he nips.

Now it really is impossible to expect a small child to “stay away” from a family-dog. And it really is impossible to expect a playful-Bostie to stay away from the human-kids in the house. Unfortunately there’s been a few incidents and we will have to re-home Panda. So it’s just an unfortunate situation for them all as you can see.

How can we change things?

What does Panda need:

- A calm foster home with no other dogs/cats or small kids
- A patient foster home, who are willing to work with us and a behaviourist to address his problems (we believe it’s small children that gets on his nerves and he should be better in a home with no kids, but we will consult with a behaviourist to understand the behaviour better)
- A foster home in Gauteng pls🙏🏻

No judgement or nasty comments will be tolerated. We were asked to help and that’s what we intend to do. The alternative is that he will be put to sleep - so we need to rally together and see if we can find a way to help Panda now.

Please email us at [email protected] - subject PANDA. The foster application form (a short form!) can be found here: https://bostonterrier.org.za/volunteer/

Note; A home check will apply for a new foster home. We also cover all medical expenses and food costs (as long as the foster home only uses our rescue vet in the area). We provide all the support and resources that will be needed. Adoption is a possibility if that’s what you want after the rehabilitation period.

Adoption Update… Jodie, our parvo-puppy was officially adopted by her foster family ♥️

A broken foot, parvo and giardia couldn’t get this tiny 1kg puppy down. She made a remarkable recovery and finally she is allowed to socialise with other doggies now. She’s grown so much (check those ears) 😁 Jodie, you are one strong puppy!

Thank you for everyone who donated towards her care and helped us pull her though 🙏🏻

Huge thank you to the amazing vets at Noag se Dierekliniek in Pta East who nursed her back to health and looked after her for the 9 days she was admitted in parvo-ICU. We couldn’t have done this without your help. Thank you!

Help! Amy needs a dental 🦷

Amy made herself very comfortable at her foster home this weekend—but she needs dental care. Her breath really doesn’t make for good kisses, so we need to rally together to get her the vet care she needs. Bosties are prone to bad teeth - so no surprises there.

Unfortunately, dental procedures are very expensive, and we need at least R2500 to cover the vet bill. Any small donation towards her dental care would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏻

Alfie Update: Please note..

▪️We have not yet decided on a home for Alfie, we are still taking applications and are in internal discussions about what we believe will be the best home for Alfie.

▪️There are so many things we have to consider - Alfie is not the easiest Bostie and the last thing we want is for him to be adopted just to be returned again. Alfie needs a patient owner, who really understands - with a big yard for playtime.

▪️A meeting will be required for Alfie, and your dogs, so distance plays a big role.

▪️Finding the right fit takes time, and it's not a process that we will rush. In the meantime, Alfie is safe and cared for.

We will reach out to potential homes as we work through all the applications. Thank you for every application received to date, we are touched that so many of you want to help!

Ellie & Gigi arrived in Pretoria last week and have settled in beautifully at their new home. Coco (in the middle) was also adopted from us a few weeks ago.

Can you imagine the energy of 3 young bosties in one home 😂♥️ this makes us happy!!

‼️Heatwave Alert‼️

🥵𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐭 🥵

During a heat wave, it’s crucial to keep your pets safe, especially brachycephalic breeds like Bulldogs and Pugs, which are more susceptible to heat stress.

𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐭 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞:
•Ensure they have access to plenty of fresh water and a cool, shaded area to rest.

•Limit outdoor activities to early morning or late evening when temperatures are lower, and never leave them in a parked car, even for a short time.

•Watch for signs of overheating, such as excessive panting or lethargy, and if you notice any symptoms, move them to a cooler environment immediately and consult a vet.

•Keeping your pet cool and hydrated is essential for their health during extreme heat.

Update; Thank you for completing the application form for the 2 bosties - Hazel & Duke. We’ve selected a home that we believe would be best for them and their very specific needs. Should it not work out we will get in touch with all applicants again.

Thank you,
BTRSA Admin Team

🐾 Meet Hazel and Duke 🐾

Due to unforeseen circumstances, they urgently need a new forever home - we can’t take them in so a foster or forever home is needed for them please 🙏🏻

Hazel, our sweet brindle girl, turns 3 on February 28th! She loves her walks and exploring. “Dora” would have been the perfect name for her! She loves playing fetch and enjoys her belly scratches.

Duke, our blue-eyed boy, will be 2 on December 8th. He has the biggest heart ♥️ He enjoys walkies and gets super excited to see kids—he just wants to play!

▪️Unfortunately they are not good with other dogs and don’t know cats. They are a bit too far to be able to do any social tests with other dogs so it will have to be an only home.

▪️They are currently in North West (Hartbeespoort) province and can also travel to Gauteng. They will be vaccinated, sterilised and microchipped when they move to a home. Their adoption fee is R1500.

▪️There is not much time for this pair - we need to rehome them very soon. Please share this post and help us network them.

To apply, please complete the adoption application link https://bostonterrier.org.za/adoption-application/
