🚨 Puppy Scams Are on the Rise Again in South Africa! 🚨Attention Pet Parents! 🐾❗️

It’s heartbreaking, but we’ve noticed puppy scams are once again making their way across South Africa—this time, they’re getting even more clever. Scammers are now using fake "adoption and rescue" websites, even referencing KUSA (Kennel Union of South Africa), and sadly they’re even using PETport’s Westville branch in Durban as a false reference for their “headquarters.” 😡

For years, we’ve been fighting against these scammers, working tirelessly to have these syndicates shut down, but they keep coming back with new tactics.

It’s crucial that YOU stay vigilant before purchasing a puppy online.
🛑 How to Protect Yourself From Puppy Scams:
1. Ask for a video call: Make sure you see the puppy in real-time with a direct video call. A legitimate seller won’t hesitate to show you their pups face-to-face. 📹🐶
2. Contact PETport directly: If you’re unsure about a website or seller, WhatsApp us at 063 868 7964. We can help you verify if they’re a trustworthy source. 💬
3. Google the number or website: Put "scam" first in your search along with their phone number or website. Often, you’ll find reports from others who’ve been scammed by the same seller. 🔍
4. Follow Puppy Scams South Africa: This amazing resource lists fake puppy scams in real-time. They do an incredible job of keeping the public updated on the latest scam attempts. 📉

💖 February is Spay & Neuter Month – A Time to Make a Lifelong Impact on Pet Welfare 🐾✨

🐕 New South African Pet Travel Requirement: Dogs traveling back to South Africa must be spayed or neuteredto comply with new regulations. This step is vital in preventing overpopulation and ensuring a healthier, happier life for our furry friends. It’s not just about travel—it’s about making a lasting impact on the future of pet welfare.
But this issue goes beyond international travel. Around the world, rescues and organizations like the SPCA are working tirelessly to save pets from the horrors of puppy mills, where dogs as young as four months old are forced to breed—often with their own family members. These poor pups are expected to carry litters and face a lifetime of suffering, simply because of the lack of proper spaying and neutering.

We thank the brave rescue groups and dedicated SPCA staff who tirelessly uncover these abusive situations, rescuing innocent lives and giving them a chance at a better life. 🐾💕

All pets travelling from Canada to South Africa must have an export certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian and endorsed by an official Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) veterinarian.

January is one of South Africa's hottest months, and it's crucial to protect our furry friends from the dangers of heat stroke.

🌟 Tips to keep your dogs safe and cool during the scorching summer include:
- Always provide fresh, cool water.
- Ensure your dog has access to shaded areas.
- Walk your dog in the early morning or late evening to avoid midday heat.
- Never leave your dogs in cars - even with the windows open, cars can become dangerously hot.
