Dear thoughtful friend of the animals
My husband Martin and I have always loved and had animals growing up and tried to rescue where possible. Rescue is in our families and we have always been taught to respect nature, and to help animals and people who are less fortunate and cannot defend themselves, Four years ago we gave up living in our dream house (well we thought it was) and moved seven hours away to get a small piece of land to be able to rescue on a larger scale.
Up until now we have rescued multiple animals, supported other rescues and presently have 17 dogs, 6 horses, 2 donkeys, 2 cows, a goat and a dog that are best friends a sheep, and 3 parrots, We were supposed to stop at 10 dogs but couldn't say no to a dog who has been abused and starved, All of our animals we have rescued, were terribly abused and starved nearly to death, Our priority has been to rescue the animals that are older, suffered abuse and have physical defects and experienced emotional trauma, as these are the ones that are normally overlooked and tend to spend an extended time in the shelters . We are a sanctuary because we want our animals to feel loved, safe and free for the rest of their lives.
We are appealing now because we have managed to fund everything ourselves, but we are not too sure of what the future holds and would like to provide the animals with the same security going forward, we would obviously like to rescue more animals but we are at our maximum with our land to animal ratio.
At the moment we are providing 3 permanent jobs and one temporary job and housing for one family.
In the future we would like to rescue more animals and expand and educate our local communities on responsible animal care and help with deworming and sterilizing dogs and cats in that community.
All contributors will receive updates on the animals progress and where contributions are allocated
As River Phoenix said, "" run to the rescue with love and peace will follow""
This peace also translates to joy in seeing the once hopeless animals trusting once again and living the rest of the lives free.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
Kindest regards
Martin and Karen Obray
