Puff is a 2‑year‑old bundle of brindle love who’s still waiting for her forever family. Her mom has already found a home, and now this chunky, food‑motivated girl is ready to pack her bags and snuggle into yours. 💼 🏡

PRESS RELEASE: Victory and Crisis
FALLEN ANGELS SECURES MAYORAL APPROVAL, BUT FACES IMMINENT CLOSURE UNDER MILLIONS IN DEBT
*FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*

[Cape Town, South Africa] – [Date: November 11, 2025] – Fallen Angels Pet Rescue, the vital animal welfare haven currently in Melkbosstrand has dedicated over a decade to rescuing and caring for abandoned animals, today announced a massive victory: Mayoral approval has been secured for their current Melkbosstrand location.

This approval brings an end to a grueling 3 year long legal permit application battle over the current melkbos location near the Koeberg Nuclear Power Plant, which had threatened their existence.

The Victory: Fallen Angels Melkbos is Approved
After a costly, 3-year application process that included an initial refusal and appeal, Fallen Angels received news on November 4th, 2025, that the Mayor's office had overruled the decline of their consent application.

"It’s a victory for animal welfare as the need and importance for shelters and what we do was recognised," said a representative for Fallen Angels. "However this decision has sadly come too late as the costs of this process have financially crippled us, but we are immensely grateful... the approval from the Mayor gives us a bit more time and our animals are safe".

The new location in Langebaan will be a 100% self-sustainable rescue centre with full solar energy and borehole water and the organization has already started the process for consent, the sale of their Melkbosstrand farm is desperately needed now to fund the new infrastructure, ensuring a more professional and efficient setup.

The Crisis: Millions in Debt Threatens Everything
Despite this momentous legal success, Fallen Angels is now fighting a desperate financial battle to survive the crippling fallout of the 3-year application process.

The constant pushing, planning, and organizing since 2022 has financially extended the organization beyond what they can cope with, accumulating debt in the millions just until today. With monthly operating costs (salaries, electricity, food, vet bills) exceeding R200,000, the debt is escalating by R100,000 monthly, and the organization is on the brink of being forced to close doors entirely and maybe even lose it's land.

"We are fighting with every last part of us," stated co-founders Gayl and Shireen "We cannot lose this fight. If we don't sell the farm we will have to close doors."

Call to Action: Fund Our Future
Fallen Angels is now appealing to the public, corporate partners, and the media for immediate support. Funds are urgently needed to service the crushing debt that threatens to erase this recent victory and deny the animals their new safe haven.

When Gayl and I first met in 2012, we could never have predicted the incredible path that lay before us. Just a few years later, that shared vision became Fallen Angels Pet Rescue.
Today, after nearly 12 years, the sheer volume of lives she has impacted is immeasurable. On her birthday, we celebrate not just the person she is, but the extraordinary light she brings to the world every single day. She is the heart of every rescue.
