Oh my, this weather🌧 is truly disheartening! My plans for cheerful "Hello Summer" ☀️adverts have been swept away—more like "Hello Tsunami!"☔️🌊 As we transition out of the holiday season🎄🎅, many people are settling back into their work routines (not exactly thrilling, but bills need paying).

Here at Catopia, we've had a few short-term guests🐈 keeping us company, and Ninja, our long-term kitty, has settled in wonderfully. He's quite the vocal and chatty little guy, always making his presence known!

Meanwhile, I've been keeping busy 🔨🪚⚒🪜(when the weather allows) with building and enhancing spaces for our rescue and sanctuary cats. While these projects aren't part of the guest facilities, they are helping me hone my DIY skills for the future. My goal is to create a cattery that caters to every type of feline personality—ensuring that all my little guests that check in have a stay that will stimulate them if they are adventurous, will keep them calm if they are the skittish and shy type with the hidey boxes and sleeping spots, and of course safe with improving their suites.

I hope you enjoy following our updates and meeting the esteemed guests who become part of our Catopia family. It brings me immense joy to create this haven for cats, and I look forward to welcoming your kitty someday to experience this little retreat away from home.

Prayers for All Affected by the Devastating California Wildfires 🙏

Our hearts are heavy as we witness from afar the devastation caused by these wildfires, affecting so many lives, both human and animal. From around the world, prayers and thoughts are pouring in for everyone enduring these unimaginable challenges.

We are holding close in our hearts all the animals displaced and suffering due to these fires—wildlife, pets, farm animals and close to our hearts all the ferals. Their silent struggles remind us of the interconnectedness of all life.
To the brave individuals and organizations risking their lives to rescue and care for these innocent beings, we see you, and we are grateful beyond words.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the courageous first responders who are risking their lives to protect and save all remaining life against the devastating fires.
To the people who have lost homes (lost everything), loved ones, and a sense of security, we stand with you in spirit. May you find strength, comfort, and hope during this incredibly difficult time.

🐱Belated Welcome to Ninja! 🐾

A warm (though slightly overdue🤭) welcome to the charming Ninja, who has joined us for long-term boarding while his mom visits family in New York!

When Ninja first arrived, he was quite the vocal little guy, unsure of his new surroundings and all the changes happening around him. After a brief stay at another boarding facility, we shuffled things around to make space for him, and he’s since settled in wonderfully here at Catopia Cat Boarding

This sweet boy has quieted down and embraced the comforts of his spacious cubicle. Whether he's lounging all day or enjoying some well-deserved affection, Ninja fills the cattery with purrs, trills, and his happy-go-lucky charm. He loves being showered with attention, strokes, and cuddles—he truly knows how to soak in all the love!

Welcome, Ninja! We’re so glad to have you with us, and we know your mom has peace of mind knowing her precious boy is happy, content, and well cared for. 💕

🕊In Loving Memory of Floki🪽

It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of Floki’s passing. Floki was more than just a guest at Catopia—he was a cherished part of our extended family. His gentle nature, curious spirit whilst still very much a baby, and loving presence brought so much joy me and he was such a pleasure to care for while at Catopia.

Floki’s unique personality and the quiet comfort he brought to our space will be dearly missed. His memory will forever hold a special place in my heart 💔.

To Floki’s family, please know our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Thank you for entrusting us with his care and for allowing us to be a part of his journey.

They say cats spend most of their day sleeping💤, and today was no exception. With the blazing heat🥵, our guests wisely chose to conserve their energy—because exerting themselves in this scorcher of a day would be downright silly, wouldn’t it?

Poor Shri and all the kitties, Its was just a crazy hot day and I believe we are in for the same weekend!!! 🥵

Please keep hydrated and make sure pets water bowls are full with fresh water and in the shade.☺️🐾🐾

Attached is a video of Shri, our newest guest. Having just arrived, he is understandably feeling overwhelmed and frightened, which he expresses through defensive behavior (hissing - but no swatting or lashing out). The panting is also because we had temperatures🥵🥵 reach over 34 degrees which felt like 44 degrees.

At Catopia Cat Boarding, we prioritize the well-being and comfort of every guest. This is why we take a slow, gentle, and use a patient approach, allowing each cat to acclimate at their own pace and in their own time. There is no rushing or forcing—just understanding and care.

We’re confident Shri will soon feel more at ease as he begins to settle into his new environment. 🐾

🐾 Welcome to Catopia, Shri! 🐾

Yesterday we welcomed Shri, a handsome boy who’s experiencing his first-ever stay in a cattery. It’s a big adjustment for him, and he’s understandably feeling a little overwhelmed and unsure about why he’s here. Rest assured, Shri, you’re in the best of hands, and we’ll do everything we can to help you settle in. 💖

Unfortunately, today’s scorching heat 🥵hasn’t made things easier for him, as he is outside under the catio, but the heat is just on another level, wish he would just go inside where the floortiles are cooler, but most of our guests are cool inside and some under the shade of the trees and comfortable with plenty of fresh water. Shri just needs a little time to acclimate and get used to his cozy suite.

He’s here for a short stay while his parents enjoy a well-deserved break, and we’ll make sure he’s as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Take your time, Shri—we’re here to help you feel at home! 🐱

As we step into 2025, I can’t help but reflect briefly on its first few hours with a sense of dismay. Each year seems to bring an escalating level of chaos, as the use of fireworks continues despite growing advocacy for their ban. The destruction and devastation they cause are unimaginable, yet the pleas of countless voices seem to fall on deaf ears. Unfortunately, the reality is that many of those responsible simply do not care.

That said, I won’t dwell on it further, as action speaks louder than words, and we’ll continue to advocate for change. On a brighter note, I’m happy to report that all the kitties in my care have been fed and are doing well after last night’s turmoil. To my valued customers, please rest assured that your furbabies are safe and sound.

As we embrace this new year, I wish you peace, blessings, and joy for 2025. Thank you for your continued support and trust, and I look forward to welcoming you and your precious companions again soon.

As we bid farewell to 2024 and the pain and sorrow it brought, as well as the happy memories and rewards, we step into 2025 with hope in our hearts, wishing for greater compassion and understanding toward animals. One of our dreams is to see fireworks completely banned worldwide, with the harm they cause taken seriously. While we know this may remain a dream, tonight we hold onto the hope that our guests remain calm and unaffected by the unnecessary loud bangs, and that animals and wildlife everywhere stay safe from their destructive effects.🎆

To my fellow rescuers: we salute your unwavering dedication to saving and caring for animals. 🙏
To my friends and family: thank you for the love and support you’ve shown to me and Catopia. 🥹

A warm welcome to Kai!🐾🐈‍⬛

Kai’s arrival at Catopia Cat Boarding came with quite the adventure. On the way here, his mom and gran had the unfortunate experience of their car breaking down on the side of the M13. Once I got the call, I quickly raced to the scene to retrieve Kai and bring him safely to Catopia, while his mom and gran stayed behind to sort out the towing of their vehicle.

What a stressful and horrible start to their holiday! We’re so glad Kai is here safe, and then we have this hectic thunderstorm what more are my poor guests going to be going through?
Well we’ll do everything we can to make Kai's stay a relaxing and happy one. Welcome, Kai—you’re in good hands now! ❤️

To say it’s been a little hectic as we dive into the full swing of our peak Christmas season would be an understatement!

Today, we’d like to extend a very special welcome to Ziya and Zeen. Unfortunately, their journey to Catopia on Thursday took an unexpected turn when their parents were involved in a car accident on the way here. Upon receiving the call, I rushed to the scene as soon as my hubby arrived home to help retrieve these beautiful babies from the stressful situation.

Understandably, they’re both still shaken from the ordeal, and combined with the new environment of the cattery, it’s been a lot for them to process. Ziya is taking alittle longer to acclimate, while sweet little Zeen has already ventured out to explore his suite and catio. Though he’s still nervous, you can see his gentle and loving nature shining through.

🐾Welcome, Tallulah, Sully, and Minx – Our Three Mus-cat-teers!🐾

Tallulah’s family has officially joined her, and Miss Spicy Grumpy Pants (or affectionately known by us as "Boots with the Furr") is having a vacation to remember! She has completely blended in with Sully and Minx, no squabbles, even welcoming them as they arrived.

Sully, being new to the cattery experience, found everything quite overwhelming at first. He was a little defensive, which is completely natural. At Catopia Cat Boarding, we never force interactions on our guests. We give them the time and space to acclimate, knowing they’ll soon feel safe and start exploring at their own pace. Sully’s transformation has been incredible! From a nervous lash out boy to the loving kitty his parents described, he’s now happily accepting head scratches and affection. We’re sure he was secretly observing Minx enjoy some cuddles and thought, “Okay, she’s good—I’ll be okay too!”😝

Minx, who was a little growly at first, has blossomed into a sweet and curious girl. Still growls, but that her talking we have discovered. She’s claimed a cozy hidey bed above the door as her favorite spot and comes down confidently when called for meal times and some loves. Her confidence and friendliness are shining through beautifully!

Tallulah, meanwhile, has been dethroned from her original spot 😆but doesn’t seem to mind one bit. She’s totally relaxed, basking in the catio, and enjoying the comfiest chair in the space.🌴🧘‍♀️

It’s heartwarming to see all three of them settling in and showing their unique personalities. At Catopia Cat Boarding, there’s no pressure to be anyone but yourself. This is a space filled with love, safety, and patience.💞

Guess whose back? Scabbys back!!🎼 For a short stay and then back again in September and again in October.😁 Scarab affectionately known as Scabby is such a giggle. I dont think I have been given such "back chat" from a kitty before. She is a confident beautiful girl, and she doesn't like been made fun of when she is letting everyone know her mood. This intelligent kitty never fails to make us laugh. When Scabbys in the house (cattery) everyone will know she's in the house 😂🤣. Very talkative, and sometimes you cannot get a word in edge ways when she is on a roll. Cubicle #2 This cubicle can comfortably fit 3 to 4 kitties. Currently our boarder Amber is with us for the weekend, she prefers inside to outside in the catio.

Cubicle #1 This cubicle is made for bigger families 4+ cats. Currently our special long term boarders reside here: Bandit, Timmy, Tom, Silver & Simpkins

Absolutely thrilled! Just finished constructing my DIY cat tree in one of the cubicles for my beloved long-term residents – The Bots, Silver, and Simpkins. Timmy's already giving it a go, claiming the little lookout spot above the door. My mind is buzzing with countless ideas, and while I need to trust my creativity, the challenge lies in bringing these concepts to life. Despite a few touch-ups here and there, I'm over the moon that it's up and running. The catios off the cubicles, should be completed towards February for all new boarders coming in, and those babies will have the luxury of their own catio in the sun and fresh air. Even more exciting news – I'll be joining the MICA Waterfall woodworking workshop at the end of March! 🥳🤩 This opportunity will undoubtedly enhance my woodworking skills, providing valuable tricks and tips, and refreshing the basics. Anticipating an exciting future for Catopia Cat Boarding, where I'll be crafting captivating items for our feline guests' entertainment. 🐾🛠️ Lesley your babies are so happy and comfy in their space 🥰🐾🐾this will always be their cubicle as long as they need it 🖤🖤🖤🧡🩶 Catopia Cat Boarding Where cats always come first!!!!!
