We care for orphaned or injured Ver

Monkey Matters is an organization dedicated to helping the public resolve issues regarding conflicts between human and non-human primates. We will rescue any injured, orphaned or displaced SA primate. Those that are healthy, but cannot be released back to where they were found, will be sent to Riverside Wildlife, in Limpopo for rehabilitation. There are no reputable rehabilitation centers in the Eastern Cape for rehabilitation and troop-forming.

Monkey Matters has been caring and rescuing primates for more than 20 years and does not often ask for donations. We try to be as self-sufficient as possible but sometimes do need some help to achieve our goals.
We are busy with some awesome initiatives, and every bit helps as well as baby season upon us.

It is that time of year again, where babies and juveniles are injured or orphaned.
Please call us: injured primates, orphaned primates, or knowledge of primates being kept illegally as pets. 🐒 Vervet monkeys & baboons are often hit by cars, attacked by dogs, or shot by humans. In this event, please call us so we can assist with attending to injured or orphaned primates.

These 2 boys play and play and play 😁 then drop for a nap, then at it again 🐒
They run and jump all over the play enclosure having the best time.
Both are doing very well and thriving now that they have each other 😊

This gorgeous little chap lost his mom a few weeks ago and was left to his own devices 😞 He was taken into CROW - Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife who have given him the best care ❤️ he is a happy chappy with the perfect baboon strutt 😁
Needless to say, Oliver is in his element and so happy to have a friend of his very own kind ❤️
Thank you to all CROW - Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife for the amazing work you do and for all you have done for Oscar AKA Frikkie.

This thin, petrified boy was being tossed around as a toy on a rope, seeing his condition, these inhumane people had had him for a while 😞
A concerned passerby intervened and bought him for R70!
We are happy he is safe now and can start rebuilding his strength and life as a monkey, but know it is illegal to have indigenous primates or to sell them. If you come across someone doing this, call the police, SPCA, and Monkey Matters to assist, we can then take action against these people.
Little Oaklee will take some time to recover but is starting to relax in our care 😊

Another baby boy that was "found" so presumably his mom was shot and killed ☹️ thankfully he is doing well and reaching all the necessary milestones required at this young age 😊 he is a very independent little boy who does things at his pace and on his time 🙄🤭
