Good morning, everyone!☺️

As you know, our breeding cycles have commenced, and we operate on a booking and waiting list basis.📝🧾

It’s been a challenging start to the year for me, as my father has been quite ill and has undergone two major surgeries. Thankfully, he is slowly recovering, which allows me to refocus on both my community and my rabbits.

*Please remember to book in advance!* ✨️

The breeds we are expecting include:
- Flemish Giants
- Standard Rexes
- Mini Rexes
- Netherland Dwarfs

Availability is limited! And times to expect them to be ready to go to their forever homes is *mid-April to early May, as well as mid-May*

*I encourage you to secure your spot ahead of time, as I've had a few frustrated individuals who missed out because they didn’t add their names to the list for the last cycle. Thank you!*

Fun fact for the day:

Jersey Wooly rabbits are a charming breed known for their soft, wool-like fur and friendly nature. Developed in the 1980s in New Jersey, they typically weigh between 3.5 to 4.5 pounds. Their dense, soft coats require regular grooming to prevent matting and Knoting.

These rabbits are sweet and gentle, making them great pets. They come in various colors and patterns, adding to their uniqueness. With proper care, they can live 7 to 10 years or more.

Their attractive appearance and affectionate personalities make them wonderful companions!

The Flemish Giant Rabbit🐇:

An exceptional companion known for its striking personalities and substantial size. Renowned for their friendly and sociable temperament, these rabbits are excellent pets for families. Their gentle nature allows them to thrive in human interaction, and they can be trained to use a litter box effectively, they are valued primarily as cherished pets. With a lifespan of approximately 8 to 12 years given the correct care and dieet.

We have been dedicated to work on the Blue Flemish project for a while now and we are happy to say that the results has been rewarding.

Tip for today: Why purebreds vs Crossbreeds.

1.Genetic Dilution: Crossbreeding often leads to the mixing of different genetic traits, which can dilute the specific characteristics that define a purebred rabbit. This can result in the loss of unique physical traits, behaviors, and temperaments associated with specific breeds.

2. Health Issues: Many purebred rabbits have been selectively bred for certain traits, which can also mean they carry genetic vulnerabilities. Crossbreeding can introduce unknown health issues, reducing the overall health and vigor of the offspring.

3.Loss of Breed Standards: Each rabbit breed has established standards that define its appearance, size, and temperament. Excessive crossbreeding can lead to animals that do not meet these standards, which can diminish the value and recognition of purebred rabbits in the fancy community.

4.Increased Competition: Backyard breeders, often lacking formal education on genetics and breeding practices, may produce rabbits that are less desirable or may not meet breed standards. This can flood the market with mixed-breed rabbits, making it harder for purebred rabbits to find homes and decreasing their overall value, most dumped unwanted rabbits are crossbreeds due to behavoiral traits being displaced.

5.Unsustainable Practices: Many backyard breeders prioritize quantity over quality. This can lead to irresponsible breeding practices that do not consider the long-term implications for the breed or the animals’ welfare.

6.Loss of Biodiversity: As certain breeds become less popular due to crossbreeding, we risk losing genetic diversity within those breeds.

Please note that many reputable breeders engage in specific projects that may involve crossbreeding. However, honesty is crucial, and they will communicate this clearly beforehand, as it is the ethical approach.
