Today is WORLD RABIES DAY 2022
With this years theme: „One Health. Zero Deaths“, world rabies day draws attention to the importance of a holistic approach – including the environment, people and animals – to prevent deaths caused by rabies.
WHAT IS RABIES?
Rabies is a deadly zoonotic disease caused by a virus. The rabies virus spreads to humans through the bite or scratch of an infected animal. The disease is nearly always fatal. Dogs are the most common reservoir and contribute to up to 99% of all rabies transmissions to humans.
RABIES PREVENTION IS BASED ON THREE PILLARS. Learn more about them in our today’s posts.
Only if we see the connection between our environment, people and animals as One Health, we can develop effective strategies to fight rabies.
Please share this post with your colleagues and friends and celebrate world rabies day with us!
