π EHS is brainwork, not bodywork - we focus on neurological reset by engaging the horse in pandiculation - a conscious muscle contraction, release, and reintegration process that engages the specific part of the brain (the Voluntary Motor Cortex) that can release habituated muscle tension at its root, leading to long-lasting changes in your horse's movement patterns and posture.
π Active and mindful participation of the horse - this is a guided educational process, rather than a treatment.
π Emphasis on developing Motor Sensory Control. This goes beyond addressing specific issues or symptoms, rather aiming to restore the horse's overall ability to move with greater ease, coordination, and responsiveness.
π Collaborative, respectful, and non-invasive approach that works within the permission and comfortable range of motion of the horse. This partnership creates an environment of safety and trust, allowing for a profound and positive impact on the horse's well-being both on a physical and emotional level. This also makes Equine Hanna Somatics a great modality for horses that have suffered trauma and/or are struggling to accept conventional bodywork modalities.
We are not suggesting that Equine Hanna Somatics is a replacement for the good bodywork modalities you are already pursuing with your horse. Rather we are highlighting that Equine Hanna Somatics, with its focus on releasing muscular tension at its root (the brain) and improving motor sensory control, offers a distinct approach that is well worth considering as a complementary and uniquely beneficial part of a holistic care program for your horse's health, performance, and happiness!
