UPDATE: 😻
It was a long haul but these boys are finally neutered and vaccinated.
This could not have been done without Sandra Low from Nigel Feral Friends and the generous donation from Sabina Essa.
Michelle Garnett Kelly gave the one guy a lift when the other disappeared. Thank you Michelle!
We couldn't find lifts for the other trips so Sandra drove back and forth from Nigel. Diesel is not cheap so I'm raising funds for Nigel Ferals.

🐱REPOST FROM A.R.S.A.

You found a nest of TEENY TINY KITTENS!!
You want to help, right? Before jumping to the rescue, consider these recommendations.

First: Wait & Watch -

***Their mother could be off searching for food, or is in the process of moving them to a different location. Try to determine if the mother is coming back for them, or if they are truly orphaned.***

Observe from a safe distance, close enough to be able to keep an eye on the kittens but not so close as to scare the mother cat away with your presence.

Carefully evaluate whether the kittens are in immediate danger: What are the weather conditions? Are dogs or wild animals that might harm the kittens nearby? Does the neighborhood have kids or adults who are likely to harm the kittens? Are the kittens located in an area with heavy foot or car traffic?

You can place flour on the ground/surface of where you found the kittens to check if there are footprints leading to or away from the nest of kittens.

***Keep in mind that it may take several hours for the mother cat to return to her babies. As long as they are warm they will survive without her presence for that duration.***

ALWAYS REMEMBER: The best food for the kittens is their mother’s milk. Remove the kittens only if they are in immediate, grave danger.

If it is clear after many hours that the mother cat is not returning, ONLY then should you intervene and remove the kittens.

🐾 Fox the Catteen 🐈 with grey sideburns was rescued from the jaws of a Pitbull and soon after a young Tortie girl was brought here from a factory semi-feral. She has also reached breeding age leaving us in a desperate situation. Now Fox has reached 'that' age where any unspayed 🐈🐾 is very attractive. One Uneutered male can make lots of unwanted fluffies so I am appealing to a few kind hearts to help us prevent this. Please can you donate towards 2 steries and save many many unwanted kitties. 😿
Thank you!!! Dee 076 611 8864. ❀
Donatons can be made directly to Dr. Thulani at Selcourt Vet with Ref: Dee's Rescues - Fox & Cherry. Banking details attached. The smallest amounts are always appreciated.
Thank you!!! Dee 076 611 8864. ❀ W/A POP for our gratitude.... πŸ™

I'm not sure who wrote this but it is funny and I'm sure some of our clients can relate to it!

HOW TO GIVE YOUR CAT A PILL:

1) Pick cat up and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2) Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in
left arm and repeat process.

3) Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.

4) Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm, holding rear
paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.

5) Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse from garden.

6) Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

7) Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap.
Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.

8) Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill inside end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw.

9) Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans, drink 1 beer to take taste away. Apply Band-Aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

10) Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed. Get another pill. Open another beer. Place cat in cupboard, and close door onto neck, to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.

11) Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Drink beer. Fetch bottle of scotch. Pour shot, drink. apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus shot. Apply whiskey compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another shot. Throw Tee shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

12) Call fire brigade to retrieve the f------ cat from tree across
the road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil-wrap.

13) Tie the little b**tard's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find heavy duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of steak filet. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of water down throat to wash pill down.

14) Consume remainder of Scotch. Get spouse to drive you to the
emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and remove pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.

15) Arrange for RSPCA to collect "mutant cat from hell" and call local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

HOW TO GIVE A DOG A PILL:

1) Wrap it in cheese.

Copy Repost:

That cute kitten you saw on Facebook!
Think carefully. That cute kittens you saw on fb is going to grow up. They will have to be inoculated and dewormed R300 (otherwise your whole household can get infested with worms! Surprised?) Wait till you hear the rest.
You can kiss sleeping in on a saturday, sunday or any holiday good-bye. This kitten will wake you up with cries that sounds like an ambulance that has crashed through your window! Still interested in that cute kitten? When your kitten reaches 4 months he needs to be neutered otherwise you will die a horrible death from the smell of cat urine all over your home. He will mark his whole territory to keep other male cats away!
If you chose a female she will needs to get spayed which cost between R800 and R1000 at the vet. If she has kittens you are an irresponsible piece of s**t that should not have any pets at all. Every day thousands of homeless animals are euthanased in shelters because of idiots like you! Before I forget, the inoculations will continue 3 or 4 times at R300 each and then you wil also need to test for feline aids and feline leaukemia also R300. That is without any food and cat litter charges, cat litter box, microchipping another R300. Now that cute kitten is not looking so cute anymore? Is he? Your bankbalance is now at an all time low. So now will be a good time to tell you they can still get sick. Panleukemia and cocidia can kill a cat. They can also get run over and will need to be x-rayed, etc. So keep about R1000 for emergency vet care.
Total cost so far R 3600 without cat food and cat litter. You must also buy a scratching post, another R600 later otherwise your couch will look as though it was killed and ripped apart by a lion. You need some cat toys and treats! It just never ends. This is just an estimate and you must remember cats love to run up and down curtains, "killing" them in the process. So your fancy apartment will soon look like a hurricane went through it. Now you are out about R4200 without cat food, toys, litter, litterbox, cat treats and whoever knows what else. Replacing furniture is expensive. Still wanting to get that kitten and commit to 15yrs of this??? Then you are a super hero!!! Really? But don't despair....you can always get that cute puppy on fb! Don't even start on that cute puppy.......you will be sorry!

Always have checked for micro chip please....😿

Fox and his brother, Jet were rescued from a Pitbull when they were kittens. Jet found a home with girlfriend, Gypsy and Fox became a foster fail. Guess he's grateful 😻 He still needs to lose the cottonballs though. 😾

GOOD CITIZENS OF S.A.
WE IMPLORE YOU..... PLEASE STOP surrendering your pets to the SPCA or Shelter.

You just have to see the stats to know your baby has a 1 in 500 chance of being adopted no matter how special he/she is.

If you are immigrating or have fallen on hard times and cannot take your beloved pets with, please try other avenues but NEVER the shelters or SPCA as they cannot deal with the volume.

We know the shelters are full due to the massive exodus of South Africans, but everyone is willing to try find homes. If you have not been successful by the 11th hour, PLEASE have the compassion to take your beloved pet to your own vet and hold his/her paw while you, their pack member, sends them over the rainbow bridge.

If you have fallen on hard times and cannot afford R400 for euthanasia please ask for help.
DO NOT LEAVE IT TO A STRANGER TO PUT YOUR PET TO SLEEP OR DUMP YOUR POOR FURKID TO STARVE OR WORSE.

Try to feel what your pet is feeling when you have to leave them.
It's similar to a 2yr old human child except they don't scream and cry but howl and meow until someone decides it's enough. That is the fate of your beloved pet.
