I will never get used to getting that dreaded phone call about one of my many babies that I looked after in this 5 years of pet sitting. They climb into your heart and you love them as your own.

Shout out to Brakkies... you will be missed little boy. It will not be the same without you when I walk through the front door of your house. 😭😭💜💜 I have no words, just tears.

Rest in peace little boy. Love you forever. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

We went to visit the husky babies at Nordic Rescue. Oh, how I fell in love with huskies even more, everytime I spend time with them.

To see what they have been through, but still to see how much love they have to give , no matter what they have been through. ❤️🥹 I wish I could adopt them all.

We gave love, lots of peanut butter cookies and groomed some of the doggies.

It is always such a humbling experience to pitch and just spend time with these doggies, it makes you see that it is the small things in life that makes a difference ❤️ Kindness costs nothing.

Thank you to Simply Paws for donating ropes for the doggies to play with. May Abba Father bless you and your company abundantly. 🙌🏻😅🔥

If you want to adopt a Husky, please click on their page or even if you want to be a sponsor. 😁. Nordic Rescue SA NPC 2014/182524/08

World, meet Caramel, Layla and the new baby - Spokie. 🐶👋🏻

How I missed them!!!! 🥹 I am grateful I had the opportunity to spend time with you again ❤️❤️

Spokie was a bit unsure of me, but Caramel helped a lot being the elder doggy to show Spokie I am to be trusted. 😁 from there, I had a shadow following me around.

Until the next time furkids. love you!! ❤️❤️

THE RULE OF THREE: 📕
How Long Does it take a Rescue Dog to Adjust?
The common milestones your new dog or puppy will go through will be the first 3 days after bringing your dog home from the shelter, then 3 weeks, then 3 months. If you’ve ever started a new job or moved to a new school, you should know this feeling. The feeling of being in an unfamiliar place, new surroundings, new people, new rules.
The first few days are spent trying to figure it all out. Then a few weeks later, you are getting more comfortable, meeting new friends, learning the schedule, and rules. After a few months, you’ve got it all figured out and are settled in your new job or school.
The 3 Days, 3 Weeks, 3 Month Rule
In the first 3 days,
your new dog will be overwhelmed with his new surroundings. He will not be comfortable enough to be himself.
Don’t be alarmed if he doesn’t want to eat for the first couple of days, many dogs don’t eat when they are stressed. He may shut down and want to curl up in his crate or under the table. He may be scared and unsure what is going on, or he may be the opposite and test you to see what he can get away with, kind of like a teenager.
After 3 weeks,
he’s starting to settle in, feeling more comfortable, and realizing this really may be his forever home. He has figured out his environment and getting into the routine that you have set. He lets his guard down and may start showing his real personality. Behaviour issues may start showing, this is your time to be a strong pack leader and show him what is right and wrong.
After 3 months,
your dog is now completely comfortable in his home. You have built trust and a true bond with your dog, which gives him a complete sense of security with you. He is set in his routine and will come to expect his dinner at his usual time.
The first thing most people want to do is show off their new dog. Just take it slow, I know you are excited but keep in mind how your dog is feeling. He has been through a lot, he may have lost his family, abandoned in a shelter… it’s all very stressful. He needs time, so give it to him.
Enjoy your new rescue dog, he will be your best friend!❤️

World, say HALO to Lilo again 😺👋🏻

First time sleeping in by Lilo...it was a slow start as she is a bit unsure of new people.

But, with a bit of love, patience, time and ignoring, she warmed up to me by day 3 or so. 🤩

We can't be any prouder of Lilo for being brave and learning to be comfortable with a strange person. 👏🏻 She is a very vocal cat...she craps you out when you come back from being not at home, and she responds to you if you speak to her. This was absolutely precious to experience. 😍

Please enjoy the videos and photos....she is just a ball of love 😍🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷

Oreo & Emily!! 🐶

A-L-W-A-Y-S a joy to look after you. 😍

So just a recap....both of these pitties are rescue doggies. Oreo is more than chilled...where Emily is a bit more on edge with the smallest of sounds or moving too quickly and then she gets a fright. So she needs a little bit more love and patience. ❤️ I am so proud of her for remembering me and having the courage to come and lay by me...slowly but surely winning her trust. I can't even start to imagi e what this beautiful Pitbull went through to be so scared of everything. 😔 But she is getting there.

Love, kindness and patience goes a long way. ❤️🙏🏻🙌🏻

Buks & Tessie 🐶

I looked after these cuties again...but this time I had the privilege of spending more time with them.

Tessie is always on her own mission and she is camera shy 🙈 that's why the photos of her is a bit less. Tessie would be out in the garden or somewhere keeping herself busy. 🙂 But when she wanted love and attention she got a little spring in her step. 😂

Buksie is my new shadow... by day 3 Buksie was my new appointed shadow. 🥹 In the pictures you'll see him as he followed me around the house. Such a sweet soul... 😍 The owners informed me that when Buks clings to a person, he has fully chosen that person. 🥰 And he is a rescue doggy....and people that work with rescue doggies will understand that rescue dogs takes longer to trust and cling to someone new, or even just the pet sitter.

I am proud of both of them.
Love what you do and it won't feel like work 😜

Rest in peace gentle giant Dante. 😭❤️ This is how I will remember you.

When I heard what happened and that you are no longer with us...my heart broke in a few more pieces. ❤️

You were super gentle and full of love and when you could play with your toys, or sit in the living room in between your loved ones - you were happy. Thank you that I could spend with you and have you chauffeur us by hand where you wanted us to go.

You are missed already. Lief vir jou altyd Dante. ❤️❤️❤️

PS. Pet sitting isnt just a business we do on the side to our normal jobs. It isn't a holiday we don't have money for. We as pet sitters love your dogs and they climb into our hearts and we love them as our own dogs. ❤️
