It was Microchip day! Thanks to our wonderful Vet at Swavet in Swavelpoort and their awesome assistance it wasn't a torturous experience but rather a pleasant one. Quick jab & sting and lotsa love afterwards.

Some sound advise from Amy van Huyssteen from Life of Fergie - Fashion for Hounds.

A great sunscreen for pets is the Kyron pet screen (spf 23) it’s very easy to apply and quick drying, for other areas like noses and ears I recommend Eucerin sensitive (spf 50) - keep an eye out for the 3 for 2 deals at clicks and dischem.

If I could give every iggy or whippet owner one piece of advice it would definitely be to keep them out of the sun as much as possible, cover up and put sunscreen on them, ESPECIALLY in winter as I’ve noticed they can lay in the sun for hours on end when it’s cooler. ☀️

Hi everyone. It seems that there are a lot of puppy scams out there and recently increasing quite rapidly. Please be vigilant and if there are any people out there who have been scammed with IG puppies for sale (then the breeder or puppies doesn't even exist), please share your story or experience. No need to mention names as we need to be careful of defamation but maybe your story could safe someone else some heartache!

Recent genetic work suggests that Greyhounds have unique genomic features that are different from those in other breeds. William Cavendish, 1st Duke of Newcastle a courtier of James I of England, he would later strike up friendships with Charles I of England and his wife Henrietta Maria. He was created Marquess of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and entrusted with the education of the royal couple’s son, the future Charles II of England.

Cavendish was an polymath and aristocrat, having been a poet, equestrian, playwright, swordsman, politician, architect, diplomat and soldier.
He was a great influence on Charles as a boy, and for the rest of his life, especially regarding with his attitudes to women. He taught young Charles to always respect and be civil to everyone, but especially women.

Margaret Cavendish was William’s second wife. She was also a very impressive individual being a prolific writer, and a scientist. She was the youngest sister of prominent royalists Sir John Lucas and Sir Charles Lucas. She became an attendant of Queen Henrietta Maria and travelled with her into exile in France, living for a time at the court of the young King Louis XIV.

Do look out for the smaller ones!

Forget snakes and ticks, the most surprising danger to pets might actually be in the skies. And this Chihuahua named Bear is living proof of the risk that birds of prey present...

Owner Mitch Bartlett was out walking on his property in Victoria when a massive wedge tailed eagle grabbed his chihuahua that was trailing behind. It was only when he ran at the eagle that it released its grip on Bear. Unfortunately the 1.9kg chihuahua didn’t escape unscathed with large puncture wounds across his body.

Dogs and cats that are less than 4kg can be targeted by sea eagles and wedge tailed eagles. In fact, I’ve lost at least 3 patients of mine to birds of prey in recent years. Keeping dogs on leashes and not letting them stray too far when out walking in rural areas might just prevent them attracting any unwanted aerial attention.

Beautiful Cooper ... wow, he keeps on taking my breath away. He turned into such a beautiful boy. Some ways he reminds me of his mum, and in other ways you can see his dad in him!
