Two weeks ago, Tuesday morning, I was in theater, so very thankful for the speedy recovery so far, and especially no more pain from the osteo arthritis. I am seeing the surgeon and physio on Thursday and will have a clearer idea then when I can get back to seeing my dogs but I imagine at least another 2 weeks... Will keep you posted.
Please whatsapp me on 060 533 6353 if you would like me to arrange with Jaylola's Mobile Dog Wash for an interim bath for your dogs.
Sound ON - When it's been a week since your op and it's getting closer to the time when you can go out and see your pups again.
Seriously though, I know it will take some time to get the muscles that encapsulate and control the hip joint up to strength so I can manage my big Rotties, Retrievers, Great Danes, German Shepherds as I can't risk one of them pulling me over.
If your dogs are ready for a bath just whatsapp me on 060 533 6353 and I will make arrangements via Jaylola's Mobile Dog Wash
Thank you very much to all my friends, Bark for Mark clients and followers of this page for their prayers and best wishes. I went into theater at 7.30am and recall waking up in recovery around 10.30am. I was wheeled back to the ward and by 3pm I was doing a first of two physio sessions when Bev Setterberg arrived with a bag full of home baked goodies and was there to video my first walk on crutches in the ward. Thats 5 hours after the op! No pain at all - God is great, thank you Jesus and thank you to the doctor and theater staff who were simply amazing. And thank you to Toni Mazen for lending me her Ferrari crutches.
Thank you for all the kind wishes, it's a bit too early to start making appointments though, lols.

Angel must somehow know that tomorrow is her bathday because she is making the most of a perfect Durban sunny, winter day to have a good old roll around in the garden. Have a look at the end result in the pic I posted in the comments Ann Young
What better way to go into the weekend than with a lovely clean dog. I've been bathing Dexter since he was a tiny pup and it's a highlight of the month for both of us. Rotties are adorable dogs, very playful, funny, loyal and affectionate.

Some very sad news today. Raven, this beautiful Boerbull, passed away today after a sudden onset of a very aggressive firm of cancer. In her last bath on 7th Feb this year we could see that she had lost a lot of weight which was thought to be a behavioral response to Chase' (young pup) confinement... You will need to see that post if you scroll back. Sadly though it turned out to be a very aggressive cancer which led to multiple organ failure. Her first bath with me was exactly a year ago and I am shattered to hear this news. My sincerest condolences to Kirsty and Grant, who absolutely gave her a wonderful year in their Cowies Hill home after adoption. Poor little Chase, who Raven was raising, will miss her big sister for sure. This is the only hard part about this work - the sadness every time you lose one of your dogs who you come to love. Fortunately we have lots of memories, captured on the Bark for Mark Facebook time line.

I had a special request to bath Molly by Wednesday this week, because on Thursday the schoolchildren were asked to bring their dogs to school for a dog show day - what a wonderful idea. Here is a little clip of her entertaining the children, parents and teachers with some of her tricks. Well done Molly, Bark for Mark is proud of you.

Raven's early morning spa bath with baby brother Chase, who we are very thankful to still have with us after he was hit by a taxi last Saturday and survived. He had sneaked out the automatic gates, unbeknown to the family, into a busy road. The gardener saw the taxi hit him and speed off. He rescued Chase and ran inside with him and the family got him to the vet immediately where he was X rayed and spent some nights under observation. Other than a coconut on his head and some bruising he is OK. So when Chase wanted to join his big sister in the tub for the first time we decided to give him his own bath - see the 2nd post. Thanks to Kirsty McKnight for the awesome video clip. Sound on.

It's going to be too cold to bath dogs on Monday and probably Tuesday as well. Keep warm with your best friend and I will start up again midweek. Tomorrow is a day off for me with an early morning 4am Mike Sierra Fishing launch with my full crew.
Slow start on a cold morning when the monkeys wake you up from a deep sleep - sound on and wait for it!
