Two weeks ago, Tuesday morning, I was in theater, so very thankful for the speedy recovery so far, and especially no more pain from the osteo arthritis. I am seeing the surgeon and physio on Thursday and will have a clearer idea then when I can get back to seeing my dogs but I imagine at least another 2 weeks... Will keep you posted.
Please whatsapp me on 060 533 6353 if you would like me to arrange with Jaylola's Mobile Dog Wash for an interim bath for your dogs.

Just like our own Angel, who was also a shelter girl. These two are desperate for a bath and loving home.

I have been saving up some dog funnies to post as I don't have any new dog wash pics - hoping the laugh gets you through to Friday.

Sound ON - When it's been a week since your op and it's getting closer to the time when you can go out and see your pups again.
Seriously though, I know it will take some time to get the muscles that encapsulate and control the hip joint up to strength so I can manage my big Rotties, Retrievers, Great Danes, German Shepherds as I can't risk one of them pulling me over.
If your dogs are ready for a bath just whatsapp me on 060 533 6353 and I will make arrangements via Jaylola's Mobile Dog Wash

Thank you very much to all my friends, Bark for Mark clients and followers of this page for their prayers and best wishes. I went into theater at 7.30am and recall waking up in recovery around 10.30am. I was wheeled back to the ward and by 3pm I was doing a first of two physio sessions when Bev Setterberg arrived with a bag full of home baked goodies and was there to video my first walk on crutches in the ward. Thats 5 hours after the op! No pain at all - God is great, thank you Jesus and thank you to the doctor and theater staff who were simply amazing. And thank you to Toni Mazen for lending me her Ferrari crutches.
Thank you for all the kind wishes, it's a bit too early to start making appointments though, lols.

My last doggie wash for about 4 - 6 weeks as I am going into hospital this arvie for a left hip replacement op in the morning. Glad I was able to get in the last 9 dogs this morning, all who are all regular monthly appointments and were due or nearly due for their baths. This is Shadow, one of four Rotties I bath every month and she absolutely adores her spa day, as you can see by the smile on her face.

It was the Bassets bath day today. Suzie (first pic) , the only Beagle X mix and she always volunteers to go first. Sadly, Suzie has been diagnosed with Cancer and has lost some weight already but not her appetite. After drying her I offered her the biscuit box on the floor, thinking she would only take one but she jumped in and ravaged it and I had to wrestle her off, so she still has lotsa fuel in her tank. The 2nd pic and also the last one on the sun bed is Molly, who is always the most photogenic and allows me to get the best pics of her.
The other three are Ben, the only male and oldest dog, Dutchess, who for all the times I have bathed has been a bit of a handful but today amazingly, was as docile as a lamb. Lastly there is Marmite, making up the squad of B5.

Rottie tested and approved, paws up, my new tub design passed the Dexter test 100% today. The first pic of Dexter is going to be one of my favorites. The dogs are happy because now they can smell the biscuits during their bath & reach up on the tailgate for the biscuit Tupperware, plus it's a rock solid stable tub, "wobble free". I am overjoyed because it's so much easier to set up and pack away.
Earlier this morning I bathed Duke in Winston Park, who is a +45kg black Lab and he enjoyed the new tub as did Teddy and Tululah in Hillcrest, two large Belgian Shepherds X Golden Retriever. We'll done Teddy, who walked up the ramp into the tub, unassisted, where previously he rolls on the ground, tummy up, like a 35kg pocket of potatoes. I hope he remembers next time, after I have recovered from my hip replacement.
Monday will be my last appointments - I am seeing the 5 Basset squad first and then Finn and Loki, two German Shepherds and then check into Westville hospital 4pm.

For Bassets, Beagles, Spaniels and other long eared breeds, like little Che man, a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, tucking into his dinner- keep their ears food free with a buff

Bath day trials today of my improved tub design and I am delighted with the results. The top lip of the tub has been re-inforced and now rests on the tailgate and locks in securely with my "brain-wave" clamp and the rear leg brackets have been reinforced, which makes the tub extreemly stable and the dogs feel more secure. For me, it means easier and faster tub set up/pack up times, making it less strenuous for me which will be a huge benefit once I have recovered from my hip replacement. I go into hospital on Monday so tomorrow's appointments will be my last for a while. I will ask Jaylola's Mobile Dog Wash to fill in for me as your dogs appointments become due.
Thanks to Bar One, Lola, Cooper & Hattie, pictured here and Benson, Mimi, Buddy, Gooch and Zoe for being my trial appointment dogs.

We woke up this morning to a sight of beautiful sunbeams streaming into our lounge and the sounds of furry paws playing on the piano.
I will be out of action during August as I go in for a hip replacement op on 29th and I imagine it will be at least 4 weeks rest and recovery before I can resume my regular dog wash schedules. I will do my best to get around to my regulars who are due /nearly due their baths, during the course of this coming week. I will make arrangements via WhatsApp

Angel must somehow know that tomorrow is her bathday because she is making the most of a perfect Durban sunny, winter day to have a good old roll around in the garden. Have a look at the end result in the pic I posted in the comments Ann Young

It was great excitement this morning when the dogs saw my car arrive at their gate in Westville. For the last 2 years I have been bathing them every 2 weeks at "their work address" in Glenwood but from now on its "home visits". Lilly is in front, then Rosie and little Lucy at the back and that's the order they get bathed in, lols. Labs are amongst the friendliest dogs a family could choose and I chose a Lab as my Bark for Mark brand identity as we always had Labs at home.

If you have any fluffy toys you’d like to “pay forward” to comfort little r**e victims, please consider the teddybag project. I am happy to collect when out and about on my Bark for Mark rounds. All the fluffies are attached to drawstring “backpacks” made by Bev Setterberg that are sent to the Jess foord Foundation where volunteers pack them with comfort items.

Stanley is the biggest dog I bath, not the heaviest but certainly the tallest. It's hard to get a sense of scale without comparing to other posts of dogs in the tub (see previous post of Kingsley).
I have been bathing Stan since he was a small pup, probably 12 weeks old and he gets bathed every two weeks because he is so active running around in a large Kloof property and builds up quite a sweat. He is a magnificent dog and a real gentle giant and we both look forward to our (alternate) Tuesday bath appointments.

Little Chubzy had his first ever bath this morning, once the weather had warmed up. He was soon relaxed with the warm water in the tub and has settled in well with his new family, Mikka, Scratch and Patch - 4 boys. The 3rd pic is of his mom and dad (who don't stay at the same address) - he is a Staffie Cross.

We are blessed with lovely warm winter days and sunshine for our dog baths. Today it was a first bath for Bella (Beagle) and Fudge (Chua x JR). Bella must be one of the calmest dogs I have encountered and Fudge has a very nervous disposition but by the time we were half way through his bath he had calmed down a lot. I have them diarised for monthly baths going forward. Thanks to Gucci & Zoeys mom for the referral.

What better way to go into the weekend than with a lovely clean dog. I've been bathing Dexter since he was a tiny pup and it's a highlight of the month for both of us. Rotties are adorable dogs, very playful, funny, loyal and affectionate. Dirty dogs? Bark for Mark on whatsapp 060 533 6353 to schedule an appointment

Some very sad news today. Raven, this beautiful Boerbull, passed away today after a sudden onset of a very aggressive firm of cancer. In her last bath on 7th Feb this year we could see that she had lost a lot of weight which was thought to be a behavioral response to Chase' (young pup) confinement... You will need to see that post if you scroll back. Sadly though it turned out to be a very aggressive cancer which led to multiple organ failure. Her first bath with me was exactly a year ago and I am shattered to hear this news. My sincerest condolences to Kirsty and Grant, who absolutely gave her a wonderful year in their Cowies Hill home after adoption. Poor little Chase, who Raven was raising, will miss her big sister for sure. This is the only hard part about this work - the sadness every time you lose one of your dogs who you come to love. Fortunately we have lots of memories, captured on the Bark for Mark Facebook time line. https://fb.watch/qKMAmtmdx1/?mibextid=CDWPTG

I had a special request to bath Molly by Wednesday this week, because on Thursday the schoolchildren were asked to bring their dogs to school for a dog show day - what a wonderful idea. Sadly Qruz passed away during the year - be sure to listen to him talking in the bath. We miss you Qruzie boy. Thanks to Mike Setterberg who helped me and produced the video. Please ensure your dogs rabies vaccinations are up to date when making a booking. This is Cooper and Aspen being as good as gold waiting for turn at Kloof and Highway SPCA
Raven's early morning spa bath with baby brother Chase, who we are very thankful to still have with us after he was hit by a taxi last Saturday and survived. He had sneaked out the automatic gates, unbeknown to the family, into a busy road. The gardener saw the taxi hit him and speed off. He rescued Chase and ran inside with him and the family got him to the vet immediately where he was X rayed and spent some nights under observation. Other than a coconut on his head and some bruising he is OK. So when Chase wanted to join his big sister in the tub for the first time we decided to give him his own bath - see the 2nd post. Thanks to Kirsty McKnight for the awesome video clip. Sound on.

It's going to be too cold to bath dogs on Monday and probably Tuesday as well. Keep warm with your best friend and I will start up again midweek. Tomorrow is a day off for me with an early morning 4am Mike Sierra Fishing launch with my full crew.
Slow start on a cold morning when the monkeys wake you up from a deep sleep - sound on and wait for it!
