It is a very special and important time for families but it is also one of the most dangerous times of the year for your pets.

Easter egg hunts are so fun for children, there is great excitement in the house - please ensure your animals don’t get hold of eggs or chocolates during the hunt or after when items you hid so well are only found days later but your pet!

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗿 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗹’𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻:

𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 - Easter eggs / chocolate 🥚🍫 - contain theobromine which is toxic to cats and dogs.
The darker the chocolate the more poisonous it is – giving any type of chocolate must be avoided.

𝗛𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗻𝘀 🍪 - contain dried fruit such as currants, sultanas and raisins – and all of these are toxic to cats and dogs and can cause kidney failure.

𝗟𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 🌸🪴☠️- are extremely toxic to cats and can cause kidney failure if any part of the plant including the pollen is ingested.

𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 🌿🌾- such as straw or plastic grass from Easter baskets can be appealing for our pets to eat. These can however cause obstructions in the gastrointestinal tract which can be life-threatening.

𝗔𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁!

Summer and Winter went for their vacs on Friday. We have a crazy amount of dogs that need to be sterilised and vaccinated in the two camps we help aid. It costs us roughly R800 a dog to vaccinate and sterilise and we have to make a difference on a very large scale to make a difference in the overpopulation of dogs and cats in the camps. These two lucky pups are in our rescue and are as happy as can be. Please be so kind to help us change the lives of the forgotten ones. We are in dire need of animal food, especially since the landfill has been closed and the communities income has been affected. Our babies warm and cozy at Felix’s base. 🙂 please donate any blankets or cushions for this winter for our babies and the many babies we help in plastic city and other settlements. Felix really look after his babies and gives them so much love and care.

I just picked up two dogs on Pretoria Rd. The Rottweiler is a female and the other one is a male. They are currently at Rynfield Veterinary Hospital. Please share so we can circulate and find their owners.

Warning ⛔️ Graphic- I am sorry for the gruesome images but it’s our reality this afternoon. Bolt needs surgery where his left arm will be amputated after being missing for a day and has somewhere de- gloved his whole arm. He has been medicated for pain and shock and will first be observed for a few days before the surgery. Any donation will make a huge difference in his vet bill. His family are really worried about him and he is the kids life. We aid the family and they can’t afford to help their kitty so we trying to save him. Thank you to Blessing and her mom Patricia for looking after this sweet mommy and her kittens in Plastic City. Me and Felix took the kittens to The Cat Shack cc to get adopted. The mommy will be sterilised at the right time and taken back as she is their cat and they love her a lot.

Sending lots of love and light to this beauty which flew into my window this morning and injured herself. I know Arlene will give her the best care. 💚💚💚💚💚 Arlene is based in Benoni and she is amazing with bird life but also works with the wildlife rehabilitation centre. Please if you have any old towels or bird seed please let me know. She always needs support. UPDATE - the birds crop was damaged and Arlene stitched it back up.

Our awesome 😎 kennel spot. 😋 Dude and Tombazan have arrived at the rescue. A Few fights between the ladies and naughty Umfana. Hopefully all will be fine.

We have closed off all the openings and have completed the wall and inserted the window. Things are coming together. We have recycled old building materials and items which came out of houses that were renovated. The rescue is secure enough to bring our babies that went for sterilisations back tomorrow.
