Aspergillosis is a fungal infection that commonly causes respiratory disease in pet birds. It can cause both upper respiratory tract (nose, sinuses, eye, and trachea) and lower respiratory tract (lungs and air sacs—a specialized part of the respiratory tract in birds) disease and create secondary bacterial infections or internal organ disease.
Aspergillose is 'n swaminfeksie wat gewoonlik respiratoriese siektes by troeteldiervoëls veroorsaak. Dit kan siektes van beide boonste lugweg (neus, sinusse, oog en lugpyp) en onderste lugweg (longe en lugsakke—'n gespesialiseerde deel van die lugweg in voëls) siekte veroorsaak en sekondêre bakteriële infeksies of interne orgaansiekte veroorsaak.
Aspergillus is the fungus that causes Respiratory diseases. This slow-growing fungal infection gradually damages tissues in the respiratory tract or other internal organs over weeks to months, often with little evidence of illness until an organ or system is severely compromised. Aspergillus fungus exists in the environment as microscopic spores that are found everywhere, particularly in soil, moist nesting material, and moldy foods. The spores persist in the environment and are very resistant to disinfection.

Birds seed ( Parrot mix) diets may be more prone to this disease because seed diets lack vitamin A, a nutrient essential to keeping both the respiratory tract and immune systems of pet birds healthy and more resistant to a fungal infection.
Voëls op saad ( Parrot mix) dieet kan meer geneig wees tot hierdie siekte omdat saaddiëte nie vitamien A het nie, 'n voedingstof wat noodsaaklik is om beide die respiratoriese kanaal en immuunstelsels van troeteldiervoëls gesond te hou en meer weerstand teen 'n swaminfeksie op tebou.
‼️‼️‼️Aspergillosis is a dormant death that can hide in the parrot's body for months and years. It is not an overnight illness! It is usually after months that you observe the disease and then it is usually very late and the chances that the parrot can survive are very slim.‼️‼️‼️
