With the 2023 Show Season kicking off We understand that having a coach or having lessons on a weekly basis is not always an option for everyone. ๐Ÿด

We also understand that itโ€™s easy to feel uncertain, as to what you really should be working on, especially on jumping days. You know conditioning is important too, but how exactly do you do that? ๐Ÿง

Whether you currently donโ€™t have a coach or if you need exercises to use in between your lessons. Weโ€™re here to help you by providing affordable, customised exercise plans!! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

๐Ÿ‘‡ Hereโ€™s how it works:
1. Select one of our two packages available
2. Tell us all about you, your horse and your 2023 goals
3. Send us as many riding videos (the good, the bad and the ugly๐Ÿ˜…)
4. Send us your arena size and available arena equipment
5. We will setup your customised exercises, that include full arena layout, distances and purpose of each exercise.

PACKAGE 1:
- Weekly arena layout, sent each week
- Weekly video assessments to evaluate the progress made in current week and determine goals for the following week.
๐Ÿ’ฐCost: R300 per month

PACKAGE 2:
- 2x Arena Layouts, sent each month
๐Ÿ’ฐCost: R110 per month

Customised packages can also be arranged.

Some horses naturally have the gift of a superb shape and form over a fence from the time they jump their first little cross.. The horse we all wish we could own๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ

But most start out struggling to connect the front and back of their bodys and throw all sorts of shapes, OR no shape at all, over a fence except for the one we want๐Ÿ™ˆ

Teaching a horse the ideal shape and form over a fence is undoubtedly one of the most satisfying processes๐Ÿ†

With consistency, patience, clear communication, the right exercises, boundaries and ofcourse a lot of positive reinforcement you can mould and improve any horses form๐Ÿ‘Œ

A horse that knows how to use its body effectively is far more economical in its effort๐Ÿ’ฏ

How effective is your coach? ๐Ÿ‘€

Ever felt like you're not making progress or with every forward step you take, you end up taking five steps backwards?

This can be frustrating and weโ€™ve all been through multiple coaches, trying to find that one โ€˜miracle workerโ€™ to fix all your and your horsesโ€™ problems. Well, what if it was easier than it seems to finding an effective coach.

Hereโ€™s some points to think about and observe about your coach๐Ÿ‘‡

You can tell a lot about a coach based on the horses that they train.
Do the horses have weak backs, or inverted necks? Are they behind the vertical? Are they broken in the third vertebrae?
Donโ€™t be deceived by the fancy pre-schooled horses โ€“ these are the easiest horses to fake good training on. Look at all the different styles of horses and see if they are muscled correctly. Also notice if they are making consistent progress with their horses.

Are their horses resistant? Are they bucking or galloping off? This should not be happening nor is falling off horses regularly, โ€˜just okayโ€™.
There is always a reason behind behaviour like this, whether itโ€™s pain related or a resistance issue. Always remember that this is not okay.

Do they stand while being worked with? Do they respect the handlerโ€™s space? Do they pull the handler around?
The most common problems that riders experience with their horses, come from lack of respect and an absence of leadership. A good trainerโ€™s horse will always reflect respect and obedience.
A horse that shows no respect on the ground has major gaps in its training and it will show when the horse is under-saddle.

If a horse bucks during a training session, does your coach spend time correcting the buck, or do they spend the time fixing what caused the buck and provide you with the tools on how to fix the problem?

Is your coach big on all sorts of gadgets, draw reins, strong bits, crank nosebands, and so on? Start asking yourself WHY they are having to resort to these โ€˜toolsโ€™. You want a coach that can get a horse to listen to whispers and not shouts. Are they constantly increasing the pressure used on the horse just to get it to behave? Always remember โ€“ the less the better!

A good horseman is able to keep their horse sound through correct riding and training.
Itโ€™s a major red flag if your coachโ€™s horse or yours is frequently lame. Your coach should understand how to correctly strengthen up your horse physically and mentally, in order for it to be able to perform the activities that you demand without it being strenuous.

Correct training is too often pushed aside in the show ring.
Ask yourself, are shows about making the horse a better athlete (both mentally and physically) or is it about doing whatever it takes to bring home a placing?

This will show you whether they truly understand how a horse functions and thinks.
Have they ever been able to explain why your horse did what it did or showed you how to do something in such a way that it made sense to you according to the horseโ€™s biology or mental capacity?

This can be a dead giveaway to the coaches who rely on fancy horses to build their reputation. Real horsemen can make even the plainest horse into something special.
Is your coach constantly wanting you to spend more on buying things that your horse โ€˜needsโ€™ in order to fix an issue? Is there always an excuse to the horseโ€™s behaviour or to why there isnโ€™t progress in the training?

Start questioning these decisions ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿคฉ
