I'm not usually one for the 'New Year, New Me' mantra, but this year, I've set my sights on striking a healthier work-play balance. I'm a workaholic at heart (guilty as charged!), but even I know that all work and no play makes for a dull day.

⏰ Maintain a routine
Stick to your dog's regular feeding, walking and playtime schedule as much as possible. Predictability can provide a sense of security.

Set up a quiet, comfortable area where your pet can retreat to if they feel overwhelmed. Make sure this space is away from the hustle and bustle of festive activities.

🐶 Plan for exercise
Ensure your pooch gets enough physical activity. A tired dog is often a calmer dog, so maintain their regular exercise routine.

Dogs pant as a cooling mechanism because they don't have an effective system of sweat glands like people do. ⁠ ⁠ Common Reasons for Panting ✅ To cool off ✅ Excitement or stress ✅ Having fun while playing ❌ Pain or discomfort ❌ A high fever ❌ Inflammation ❌ A very full stomach ⁠ If you see that panting is extremely intense, happening when your dog isn't exerting themselves or cannot be explained, you should get them to the vet. It's always best to play it safe and let your vet check things out.

Our story began when my beloved cat Gizzy was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and the only thing that helped stimulate his appetite was CBD (he had lost over 2kgs, which for a cat is huge). After reading everything I could about the science of CBD and what was going on, I found the highest quality medical CBD and set about trying to make a treat. After many days and weeks and months and with the help of an animal nutritionist, we finally had a tasty treat to give him.

Gizzls CBD treats are made using the best natural ingredients. No animal by-products, meals, corn, wheat nor anything artificial, be it preservatives, colours or flavours, will ever find their way into our biscuits. All the meat is sourced locally at Gizzls-vetted farms in South Africa to ensure it's not just free-range but also free from hormones and any other nasties. As for the vegetables, these are all seasonal, sourced from local community gardens that don‘t use pesticides.

Our core value is very simple: we only hand bake treats that I would be happy giving to Gizzy, Chloe, Inca and Indie.
