Last but certainly not least came an update from my favourite ginger family 🧡 Liz and Ty are the very proud and dedicated pawrents of Penny and Enzo - both adopted from us! 😁

They are such happy little ones and scored big time with their family.

Another special update from Nova (previously Sushi) who has been in her forever home for a year now!

We honestly weren’t sure what the future held for this girl as she had been seriously hurt by humans and was struggling. But somehow, the most perfect mom named Shona found her.

Nova is the ideal name as this is a complete different cat who has healed and thrived in her second life.

Thank you Shona and family for helping to restore our faith in humanity.

Second chance needed 🙏🏼

Darling Scottie is in need of a special second chance after being abandoned.

He is an adult kitty of around 6/7 years old and is INCREDIBLY loving. He is the ideal companion for a family or singleton or retiree - he hasn’t met a person he doesn’t adore. 🥰

He has tested negative for FIV/Felv, is neutered and has received his first set of vaccinations. He has also been dewormed and treated for fleas.

This special boy is used to other animals and while he loves to be outdoors, he really needs a loving human and cozy corner to come home to between adventures.

He is not doing very well in his foster home as mom works long hours in an office. He needs to find his perfect home asap 🩷

Nyla is a beautiful flame point female kitten of 7 weeks old. 🩷 She was rescued after being presumably dumped (together with her brother, who has already found a home).

Nyla has had a tough start to life having now recovered from limping calici virus, which left her unable to use her back legs for a period of time.

We are pleased that she is zooming around and purring up a storm these days! She will make a fantastic addition to your home.

Nyla would suit a quiet home with someone who is either around for most of the day or has other cats, as she gets lonely easily.

She is not socialised to dogs or children but is extremely loving towards humans and loves other cats.

Her outside time would need to limited due to her pink features being susceptible to sunburn. 🙏🏼

We are pleased that she has now recovered and is zooming around!

Nyla would suit a quiet home with someone who is either around for most of the day or has other cats, as she needs company and gets lonely easily.

She would be better suited to a home without small children and dogs, as she is easily started by high energy. Her outside time will also need to limited due to her pink features being susceptible to sunburn. 🙏🏼

Nyla is a sweet, gentle and purry kitten with lots of love to give. She will be an amazing addition to a loving home.

Meet Enzo (ginger boy) and Nyla (flame point female). We saw a post by Take Me Home Kitten Adoptions - Durban about these babies needing a foster and something told us we needed to help. 🙏🏼

These babies were rescued by a very kind lady and her daughter from the chef’s school in morning side.

They were filthy, covered in ticks, have ulcers in their mouths, and Nyla is currently unable to walk. She drags her back legs and needs assistance to use the bathroom. 💔

We are fairly sure they have the limping form of Calici Virus and they have started on antibiotics and Nyla is getting anti inflammatories too. The good news is that she is already stronger and more mobile today!

Should this indeed be Calici, she will be up and about in no time. 🙏🏼 Both kittens are about 6 weeks and tame with beautiful personalities. We think there is a good chance they were dumped when they started to get sick.

We will keep updating on the progress of these sweethearts 🥰

Counting the days until Sadie’s quarantine period is up and she can be upgraded to bed and couch cuddles. 🥰

Enzo and (especially) Nyla are making amazing progress! Today she is able to use her back legs enough to climb on laps 🥰

Sound up for this video! This is what it sounds like when Puffin’s skin moves. This is due to all the air trapped under there. He is still sounding crinkly but appears to be improving. He is otherwise eating well with no other concerning symptoms 🙏🏼 We are so grateful to Dr Naz from Pulse Veterinary Clinic for helping him. Him and sister Maple are nervous of humans and may take a while to warm up. Mommy Meadow is sweet and loving 💕 She must have grown up with humans who have either lost or failed her 💔

Update: adopted Diesel absolutely loves other cats 🥰 He will often be curled up next to Paisley having a nap or being groomed 😂. He seems to love being looked after and really enjoys all the attention 😂 We still haven’t had any interest in this sweet boy. Please consider giving him a home. He deserves his happy ending 💕 He has had his first vaccs and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. If you’re interested in adopting him please contact Megs on 083 388 7593.

An unexpected new arrival 🖤 Diesel came to us yesterday after being rescued by Sabeeha while on a trip to Durban. He had been trapped in a car for over 48 hours and wasn’t in a good way, so Sabeeha hustled to trap him, get him seen to by a vet and asked us if we would be able to help place him. We decided to foster the little guy ourselves and soon arrived a tiny 7 week old who has already been through so much. He has snuffles and his eyes were continually filling with goop and crusts and forming a film over the corneas. His little paws were swollen and burnt from the car and his gums were pale - likely from anemia. He was weak and unsteady and so so skinny. 💔 We shudder to think what his fate would have been had Sabeeha not rescued him! A huge thank you to her for getting him all the necessary treatments to regain health and for the providing him with nutritious food for his stay with us. You are a kitty angel. 🙏🏼 This all happened yesterday and we are excited to share an update on Diesel today shortly…

An update from Shannon on Storm, the kitty that needed to be rehomed urgently. “Storm’s guardian angel just phoned me. She just taken storm to his new home and he walked straight out the carrier to his new mom and has not tried to hide at all.” Video taken of Storm in his new home. ❤️ Storm’s dog brother is still urgently in need of a home.

Mommy and me 💗 Chance never even ate while we were stroking him! We’re so so happy to see him like this!

It seems like we attract those in need of help! My mom’s neighbor came across this little girl in Shallcross, KZN. She is now safely with my mom but is in a terrible state. She’s bone thin and seems to have issues with her eyes and mouth. 💔 She will be visiting the vet soon and we hope for good news.

We’re so proud of you, Chance!!!

Welcome to Five Peas in a Pod!

Hello and welcome to our page! You may have stumbled across us on Instagram, but we’re here because we have big plans for the future. We can’t wait to share this journey with you and to get to know you more!

We’re five South African rescued kitties with two VERY loving moms. Our momager started our Instagram account as a way to document our progress and also to share all of our foster siblings. Our moms have fostered about 70 kittens, including a few of us! She now hopes to share more, connect more, and offer a space for resourceful communal learning.

This is us:

PAISLEY - the original Pea! She was adopted from PMB Kitten Rescue & Fostering as a tiny baby calico. We don’t know much about her background except that she was found having fallen in a pond.
