“Hi! I’m Frolic! 🐾

Im about 2 years old and was adopted from last year June.

TEARS found me scavenging on a Vrygrond rubbish heap. I've bounced into my parents life full of smiles and silly dances 🩵

I love running, splashing in any water (the smellier the better) and playing tug!

Im a really happy pup, and have met every strange challenge of my new life (like stairs!) with my africanis-can-do attitude.

My mom calls me an "All-terrain" dog!” 🐕

Thank you so much for sharing your story 🥹 we just love a happy ending!

Pretty please take me home. Precious Bambi is such a gentle and loving puppy. She is about 11 weeks old and is going to be on the small side of medium. ;) Bambi is your typical Africanis pup with her lean frame, long legs and pointy nose. She's is almost housetrained and knows how to sit and give her paw. What a clever girl ♥

Meet Simba - one of the happiest, sweetest boys at DARG. Simba had a terrible life prior to coming to the shelter as he was confined in his kennel. He has some German Shepherd in him but is he's half the size and has the cutest short legs! ❤️ Simba will make an incredibly loyal and loveable companion. He's also very well behaved on a leash and enjoys meeting dogs on a walk. (+/-6)

🐾✨🐶🦋🖤 Meet INDI 🖤🦋🐶✨🐾

“Indi started off as a foster but happily ended as a foster fail. She was the smallest of her siblings and the only Black and Tan one, some would say the runt of the litter - but we know we struck black gold with her! 🖤

Indi is social, loving and always up for an adventure - whether it be a hike on the trails or just a car trip to get milk from the cafe down the road ⛰🚙🥛🛣✨

She’s learnt how to dig on command and helps to dig out drainage paths and rocks when trail building with her dad ⛏She is the ultimate trail dog and are so grateful to have her!”

Thanks so much for sharing Indis story and the hilarious photo! I had a good giggle 🤣

Africanis dogs are the BEST adventure dogs - ammiright?

URGENT HOME NEEDED FOR SHADOW

Shadow is a lucky little pup

Yesterday was a big day for little Shadow. From rough hands and harsh treatment and a very uncertain future, his luck changed when he was noticed and rescued by Janet Rhys. An urgent vet visit to followed, where he was given a clean bill of heath, dewormed and deflead, and his first vacs administered.

He is a lovely pup, will probably grow to be a medium size, and is cute as a button. Despite only being around 7 weeks old, he is bright and eager to learn, and has the 'follow my human' trick down pat (hence his name)

Shadow is up for immediate adoption as it seems unfair to deny his new family the joys of his puppyhood!

To meet him please call 0827803955 and we will put you in touch with Janet and arrange a meeting

UPDATE (27/06/2022): Shilah was moved to a foster home over the weekend.

URGENT!!! We have less than a week to make a plan for this boy.

This is Shilah. He's around 5 years old. He was adopted from us as a puppy.

Unfortunately his family are losing their home and have no choice but to ask us to foster and potentially rehome him.

He is a happy, healthy boy and we seriously need an urgent plan for him before we have no plan and he will have no where to go.

We have less than a week to find him a foster or home, so this is also extremely urgent.

He's good with dogs, quite a bouncy, energetic boy, so may be too much for cats.

Age: 5 years
Size: medium to large
Breed: Mixed
Dogs: ✔️
Cats: Unknown
Kids: ✔️
Located: Southern suburbs of Cape Town

For more info please contact us on [email protected] or WhatsApp message Jess on 0825511926

UPDATE: Ivy has left the building for her new home. Thank you for adopting

Update : Adoption Pending 🎉🎉🎉

Ivy is one of the longest stays at our SPCA at the moment and certainly for no fault of her own! It has simply been a case of her just being overlooked time and time again as does tend to happen with some of our dogs.

Ivy is a lovely dog. She's gentle, medium sized and would really fit into a number of different home environments. She would suit an older person looking for a companion or she could just as easily fit into a young family looking to add another pet to their home.

How incredible would it be to change Ivy's life by getting her adopted just in time for winter? Simply none of us can understand why she hasn't been the chosen one yet! 💙🐾

Adoption Fees: The Adoption Fee for dogs is R900. This includes their first vaccinations and deworming, microchipping and sterilisation.

The africanis dog

The Africanis is a landrace of Southern African dogs. It is believed to be of ancient origin, directly descended from hounds and pariah dogs of ancient Africa, introduced into the Nile Valley from the levant. Africanis is also an umbrella name for all the aboriginal dogs in Southern Africa. Since it is a widespread landrace breed spanning across the continent, there is no set standard for it. Many African breeds descend from this one, which is simply the common semi-feral dog of the continent. It is also known as the African Dog, Bantu Dog, Hottentot Hunting Dog, Khoikhoi Dog, Tswana Dog, Zulu Dog and Katali. It can come in any colour or colour combination.
