Lola

What a special journey it's been, journeying with this precious oldie, and her loving, dedicated " parents".

When Lola's " parents came to look at The Sleep Over Boarding Cattery i just loved their warmth, compassion, and dedication, to their beloved floof.

When they brought her in, for her first stay, i was just as concerned, as they were, about how much time she had left. She was so thin, weak, and lifeless.

I immediatly referred them to our much loved Dr Perling at Westville Veterinary Hospital. I just felt, deep down, Dr Perling would be the right Vet, for this darling floof. She was not on the treatment she needed to be on, and she was weak, lethargic, and barely eating, and she going down fast.

Mom Glynnis and I, had a wonderful connection, right from the start, and Glynnis was eager and willing to give this new Vet a try. Anything to try to buy quality time, for Lola.

Dr Perling quickly went to work diagnosing correctly, which, is one of West Vets biggest strengths, in my humble opinion, and then putting Lola on the best and right treatment, that shes needed. Lola responded beautifuly!

The updates ive received have been heartwarming. Recently Lola came in to stay again with us. Seeing Lola with my own eyes, now that shes on the right treatment, brought a lump to my throat. What a major change for good, in this gentle hearted, loving, oldie.

I am so grateful for the journey with Glynnis, her hubby, and darling Lola. I am forever grateful to all of the Vets Vets.

Whose hands, we place our floofs in, matters, and matters greatly, and in many cases, can be a matter of life and death.

Lola, knowing you, and looking after you, and journeying with you and your family, is a gift, a gift, im truly grateful for.

Looking after those entrusted into our care, is a high responsibility and a huge trust given to us. We do not ever take this for granted and we remain 100 % committed, and fully dedicated to all in our care.

Lumi

We love this darling boy, and his mamma too. Lumi has been coming to stay with us since 2019.

A relationship has been built over the last 5 years of mutual love and trust.

June has become a friend, and her support for all of Lumi's friends at Persian Cat Rescue Durban mean the world to us.

Abby

This darling fur child, stays with us often. Our relationship has grown, Abby knows and trusts us, a privlege i never ever take for granted. Shes a shy sensitive, shy, one eyed, precious, floof. What can i say. We adore her, and her very awesome, mom and dad. Thank you Bev and Barry, for your trust in letting us take care of your beloved, baby girl, Abby.

Siamese Lovers

Ella, is the choc point siamese, she is housed on her own and belongs to one family. Lexi, Zoey, the tortie oriental and 6 month old adorable, Harry the kitten, are all together and belong to Des, my lovely hairdresser at Tint Hair Salon.

I could sit all day and be fully present with these darlings, ah but, the clock ticks, and i still have lots to do. How gorgous are these beauties!

Elsa Leaves For The USA

I cant count the sheer no. of goodbyes, yet each one, to this day, impacts me greatly. Our long term boarders come in, unsure and afraid, and slowly they relax and trust and bond with us. Then the day comes and we have to say goodbye. Its bitter sweet knowing they are flying to join their families who are anxiously waiting for them.

That last look as they leave, is hard. There is stress and anxiety for which you cant prevent even though you wish you could. However you know once they are through the unknown journey, thats ahead of them, love awaits them on the other side, from all of the fur parents who have often sacrificed hugely, to be able to afford to take them with them.

Fly safely Elsa, everything soon is going to be okay. I wish i could cuddle her one more time, but the clock ticks and i know i cant. Be strong little one, you can do this! Your family awaits anxiously for you, on the other side.

Mickey & Smudge

Just fetching Mickey and Smudge from the car. Their mom, is going in to hospital tomorrow for knee replacement, surgery.

Micky and Smudge were both rescued by Persian Cat Rescue Durban and then adopted, to their wonderful mom, who over the years, has become both a wonderful support, and a dearly loved friend.

We are here, as a home away, from home, for your fur babies.

We wish Mickey and Smudge's mom, strength and healing, through her surgery tomorrow. Mickey and Smudge will be, lovingly kept safe, until she is well enough, for her babies to go back, home again.

Zeus & Olive

Its an honour, to take care of furry children when their family is going through one of the hardest times of life. Ive known this family for 4 years. Ive looked after Zeus and Olive, many times for them.

This week, whilst boarding here and in my care, their beautiful mom passed away, after fighting a long hard battle with her health. Georgia fought so bravely and so hard.

Today they go home, to their dad. I wished i could've explained to them that life will be different now, but i have promised to be there for the family and to help them with their furry children, in any way they may need it. I look up into the vast, big, blue, sky. This, i believe is what Georgia would want.

Heaven has gained one of the best! What an incredible blessing to have known her.

So long Zeus and Olive. We, here, at The Sleep Over Boarding Cattery will always, always, be here for you.

Astrael.

My little black panther friend should have just landed at Heathrow Airport. Now for the next few hours it will take for him to be cleared before he is handed over to his family.

Astrael boarded with us here, at The Sleep Over Boarding Cattery for a few months, while waiting out his time, to be able to join his family.

Emigration is hard, not only for humans but for our fur baby family members too, but so grateful for those who make the sacrifices to take their fur family children with them.

Astrael was very skittish and shy, he did not really trust people, but gosh i just loved this boy, and i was richly rewarded with forming a special bond of connection, with him, but it took time. So of course, saying good bye was bitter sweet, and now i am waiting anxiously to hear that he safe in the arms of his wonderful family.

So long beautiful, brave, one. It was a privlege looking after you and getting to know you! Have a good and happy and wonderful life in the UK.

Lola

Its a very big responsibility, looking after, oldies, even more so an end stage kidney disease patient. However, how could I say no. She has the most wonderful, loving, dedicated parents.

Lola must have her meds in the mornings as well as the evenings. The challenge with this awful condition is to get them to eat, and to eat enough.

It was a bit tough in the beginning but with lots of TLC and ensuring she has her meds, we are doing well.

Two more sleeps and this beautiful, gentle, one, will be reunited with her family again.

Leo & Lola

Gosh goodbye's are hard! For years and years, every Dec/Jan Leo and Lola, have come in for boarding. A few days ago they came for their very last stay, and then it was a final goodbye. Bittersweet of course, because they boarded their flights, so bravely, and have just landed in the UK to join their wonderful family.

So happy for them that they are safely there, and of course their family are just so happy that the journey is behind them and they are safe and all together again. Have a wonderful new life Leo and Lola, as you start your new life in the Uk. Thank you Kirsten for all the times you brought them here for boarding at The Sleep Over Boarding Cattery. Go well Leo and Lola.
