This is rescue…

I first saw Tabby Tail as he herded his family - a mama and five kittens - into the bushes by my front porch. After settling them, he came up on the porch and ate from the cat food and water kept there for ferals. He stared at me and then turned back to the bushes. I could almost hear him saying, "They need food." I put food and water near the bushes right away.

As the days passed, I realized this big cat was taking care of the family. The mother cat’s foot was injured and she moved too slowly to corral her kittens. Tabby Tail never left them, watching over them and making sure everything was safe. Soon he began bringing the family up on the porch for me to see. Again, I felt like I could hear him talking to me: "This is my family. I want you to take care of them."

When he - and they - seemed ready, I opened my front door and invited them in. He led the way, standing just inside the door until the kittens and the limping mama were inside. I planned to give them away to others who would love them. But, again, it seemed I could hear Tabby Tail: "We are a family. Let us stay." I did.

The sweet mama, now named Lilypet, recovered from her broken foot; the kittens grew into happy adults. Tabby Tail watched over them for the rest of his life. He died last year, seven years after coming inside. When he became ill, his cat family stayed by his side. As we said good-bye, I thought I could hear his words one last time. "I am tired. Take care of them for me." I will, Tabby Tail, I will.

URGENT LIFELINES NEEDED - FOSTER FAMILIES, FOREVER HOMES & FUNDING ANGELS!!!

Please support Amanda’s Ark and the beautiful souls onboard by offering your heart and your home, whether temporary or permanent - Western Cape, South Africa.

I will make a perfect match, you may even find your soul mate, you will definitely make a new friend and will absolutely contribute towards saving a life.

People are handing over their dogs to be euthanised because they can’t manage, this is not what euthanasia is designed for and it’s being abused.

Animals are suffering because people don’t have the responsibility, accountability and resourcefulness to take proper care.

Rescuers are having to step in for the sake of the animals, but we need help, in the form of funding, foster families and forever homes.

We can’t save them all but we CAN save all those who cross our path, we have to be the change we want to see by getting involved.

Add to this those who have been neglected, abandoned and abused and you see the crisis unfolding, with many killing their way out of it.

Please contact Amanda URGENTLY on 084 287 5050 if you can foster or adopt, dogs in photo order are Lefty, Lady, Brown, Duke & Nooi.

We are standing in faith for all those without a voice and a choice, please stand with us and please reach deep and give generously.

I have given everything, please stand with me, for the love of the animals and to restore faith in humanity, which is being eaten away by apathy.

R200 will contribute towards food, R2,000 will pay for boarding for 1 dog for a month and R20,000 will cover 2 salaries.

It costs around R100,000 per month to care for around 100 animals and we can only continue with the support of finances, homes, ears, hands and hearts.

This plea is genuine, rescue humbles you to the core and we live on prayers, miracles and blessings, it’s not easy, please give whatever you can on the link below and please share.

I have a lot of lives in my hands, little souls who look to me as their only hope, most of whom live in my home, and I need help.

I’m a one-woman band with a massive heart who soldiers on in the face of overwhelming pressure and adversity.

But, I can no longer fight this battle alone, I need mighty men and women to help financially, saving lives is expensive.

Each month costs R100,000 (£4,000 or $5,500) including vet bills, a small price for dedicated life-saving support but huge for one person.

I need 100 people who will give R1,000 (£40 or $55) every month, or whatever you can manage, more if you can, surely this is possible…

We specialise in rescuing and re-homing “impossible” dogs in “impossible” timescales and rehabilitating “impossible” cats & dogs who need round the clock critical care and specialist help.

We are a last chance café for those in need, if I say no, animals die or continue in their suffering, I have to say yes.

We do this in faith and a dogged determination to succeed and I urge you to say YES to being part of our mission.

Please stand with us, please give generously and please allow your heart to overflow as we share with you the lives that your donation touches.

I hear so many times, “thanks for taking care of the animals”, and I wonder if anyone knows what that means.

People need to understand the crisis that the animals and those who help them are facing, it’s serious, we need URGENT help.

Rescuers are strong, but they are also people, who have had to put their own life aside to care for those in need.

They do it silently and seriously, with no need or desire for spotlight or applause, the thank you we get from the animals is reward enough.

But we need donations, we need support and encouragement in the form of people stepping in and doing their part.

Donate, share, foster, adopt, assist in any way you can, the animals need you, we have to look, we have to help, we cannot turn away.

The empty fundraiser in the bottom of this link tells you all you need to know, it’s not from lack of effort…

I use the term real rescuers because very few people are willing and able to make the end-to-end commitment required to not only save a life, but to ensure the lifelong health, happiness and safety of everyone who passes through their hands.

It’s about heart, if a homeless man can do this, we can definitely do better…

The man in the photograph has no home, no material possessions, and lives off of very little money. But he has something more valuable than anything else: an immense heart of compassion.

Sitting quietly on the sidewalk of a busy street, he shares what little he has with the animals he finds on the streets who have no one to care for them. They find warmth not only in the blankets of cardboard that he has laid out but also in his gentle and safe presence.

In front of him, on a piece of paper spread on the ground, he has carefully laid out food. He doesn’t have fancy bowls or tables, but he offers what he can: dry food, pieces of meat, cheese, fresh water, and milk. Everything is placed with care, as if he’s presenting them a feast. For him, feeding these stray animals is not just charity it’s an act of respect, a way of restoring their dignity.

He expects nothing in return. No money, no applause. His reward is seeing these animals eat their fill, hearing their content purrs, or feeling their soft fur against his hand as they come to him for comfort.

This simple act, powerful in its humility, reminds us that true kindness doesn’t depend on wealth. It comes from a heart that sincerely wants to help. This man gives without hesitation, though he has little. That is a lesson we all need to learn. Genuine generosity isn’t about how much you have, but how willing you are to share.

He shows us that humanity is still alive, that silent heroes walk among us, quietly changing lives one small act at a time. Because of him, these cats know love and safety, even if just for a moment.

The hardest thing about rescue is keeping it together in the face of so much adversity, pressure and injustice.

Add bullying and abuse of rescuers themselves into the mix.

We are made of strong stuff, we have to be, but many things that are allowed and accepted are deeply unacceptable and must change.

People need to wise up, we are all contributing to the problems in the world by our actions, inactions and ignorance.

The inconvenient truth is that people who say they love animals don’t.

We see the suffering and we turn away.

The silent pleas from the neglected and abused are too much for our weak constitution.

Those locked away in cages at risk of being euthanised, we pretend it’s not happening.

Rescuers who pour themselves out beg for help and get nothing.

All the lives that once mattered, matter no more, and in our ignorance and sin, we do nothing.

The inconvenient truth is that our failure to act supports a broken system.

People tell themselves so many stories why they can’t save a soul in need.

Really???

You were too busy to stop???

You have your own animals so you can’t help this one???

You did your part by sending a soul to their death because you were too lazy to think for yourself about what was needed???

You can’t afford it???

What kind of weak, unconscionable people has society produced?!

There are no reasons why we can’t help others, other than the fact that we are selfish and cruel.

And quite pathetic.

People need to be told the inconvenient truth.

We need to wake up from this slumber we have allowed ourselves to be lulled into.

More is demanded of us.

We are not here to serve ourselves, to be busy doing nothing of any great importance.

We are here to serve others.

To add insult to injury, we justify cruelty and murder so we can eat them.

Living souls go in and packets of lifeless chopped up meat come out.

Death comes out, and we love it, we crave it, we celebrate.

Humanity is sick and the neglect and abuse that takes place on our watch is a clear reflection of a deeper truth.

It’s time we told ourselves the inconvenient truth.

We are a disgrace.

Great shame is upon us and in our arrogance we are blind fools.

We are not superior, we are a stain covered in filth.

God does not love our behavior, He hates it and we are suffering deservedly so as a result.
