Hi, I’m Amanda Lighthouse from Amanda's Ark, aptly named as a result of all the animals I rescued who live onboard.

We provide an important lifeline that must continue but this is only possible with the help of other kind souls joining with us.

I’ve been self-funding a cat colony for 6 years in addition to rescuing and re-homing dogs for 8 years, but I am no longer able to carry this labour of love alone.

With only a handful of regular sponsors covering less than 10% of what we need, it’s simply not possible to pour from an empty cup.

It’s a privilege and an honour to take care of these precious souls and I’m looking for mighty men & women of valour, honour and substance who will help me to keep going.

We don’t beg for money, even though we really need it and it’s a struggle to find donors, our intention is to give something in return to educate, motivate and inspire people to get involved and make a profound difference.

Dear Cat Lovers,

This funding post is for our beloved cat colony who we have been taking care of for the last 6 years in the Cederberg part of South Africa.

Homeless cats live a very hard life and our support makes a huge difference, they are happy, safe, provided for and protected.

In the beginning, we self-funded because there were only a couple but now we need support as there is so much involved.

We need help with cat food, supplements, vaccines, sterilisations, flea & tick, worming, microchips, staff, cat housing, cooling, heating and vet bills.

We are small but mighty, there’s nothing we won’t do for our animals and our home is their home.

We need R750 (£33 / $44) 🎯 every day and need a hero today in full or in part - if you are reading this, please consider being an angel 😇

We don’t have any donors for the cats, I don’t take a salary and we are a very worthy cause, giving from our hearts.

Dad didn’t want a dog.
“It’s too much responsibility,” he said. “It’ll make a mess, take up too much time, and we’ll get too attached.” He never had pets growing up, and to him, a dog was just an unnecessary commitment.

Then one stormy evening, that all changed.

Driving home, he spotted a tiny gray pitbull pup curled up beside a dumpster, trembling in the cold rain. She was muddy, scared, and so small you could fit her in your hands. But when she looked up at him, something in his heart cracked open.

“Just for tonight,” he said, wrapping her in his jacket.

That night, he made her a bed out of an old towel and sat next to her until she fell asleep. The next morning, he took her to the vet. By the evening, he had bought her food, toys, and a red collar that said “Luna.”

Two days later, she was sleeping on his lap.
A week later, he was calling her “my little shadow.”
Now, they do everything together — watch TV, share snacks, and have entire conversations without words.

Dad didn’t want a dog.
But this dog wanted a dad.
And somehow, they both found exactly what they needed. ❤️🐾

In addition to rescuing and re-homing animals, I write insightful and revelatory blogs in partnership with the Holy Spirit.

To be honest, I rarely share them, I guess I’m building up the courage as they are deep and profound and I lay myself bare.

I’ve decided to share this one in this moment, I wrote it during a difficult time when it all felt like too much and I needed to draw strength.

Those who know me, and that’s very few people, know that I never give up, even in times of weakness, but these times are hard.

I share this blog with you to encourage, uplift, motivate and inspire, rest in the difficult spaces and know that you are held, this too shall pass.

Most days I am a powerhouse, able to do extraordinary things and what would be impossible to most people, but some days, I struggle to even get out of bed, and today was one of those days.

URGENT FINANCIAL SUPPORT NEEDED FOR DUKE

This fund-raiser is for 2 year old Duke, a lovely boy awaiting his forever home, available for fostering or adoption to the right person, Western Cape, South Africa.

It covers the back log of boarding fees at R2,000 / $120 per month, to the end of November, and includes food, board, flea and tick, vaccines & worming.

Most of my rescues live in my home, but with limits on numbers, noise levels and sociability, boarding is a life-saving measure.

We only use places where there is a lot of freedom and the ability to be with others, for the dogs who are able to, and we are blessed to receive rescue rates.

Animals & Rescuers are facing A CRISIS, there is no government funding, no regular support and rescue is funded by prayers, faith, miracles and blessings.

LAST CHANCE CAFÉ

I am an animal's last chance, if I say no, an innocent and often perfectly healthy animal dies or continues in their suffering and neglect, so I have to say yes.

Duke was going to be euthanised by the person who supposedly rescued him simply because she couldn't keep him and didn't know what to do with him, hence why I stepped in.

I am a one-woman band, supported by 4 members of staff, and I need Mighty Men & Women of Valour, Honour & Substance to stand with me in support of those without a voice.

Rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing dogs is a labour of love and worth every challenge and sacrifice that I have to endure, but, I can no longer continue alone, it takes a village.

We can only do this with your help, it's simply not possible to pour from an empty cup.

A reed that bends and does not break, Morgen brings calm, wisdom and inventive brilliance to every challenge.

Gentle, devoted and deeply in tune with our animals, he’s the team elder and go-to for round-the-clock critical care.

We have been rescuing and re-homing dogs for 8 years, and in addition, take care of a colony of cats, most of whom live in and around my home.

Blessings brings balance, structure and order and keeps everyone healthy and well fed!

Whether she’s cooking up a storm in our giant 42 litre pot, organising the shelves or contributing ingenious ideas, Blessings brings abundant blessings and we couldn't manage without her.
