ALL ABOUT TNR
You may have read a lot about TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) on our page, and maybe you've wondered what does it really mean, in practice?
The main purpose of TNR, is to cause the least amount of harm and stress to individual cats, while tackling the massive problem of overpopulation. There simply are not enough homes or spaces in rescues and shelters for all the kittens being born. TNR means one visit to the Vet where we can check for diseases and neuter the cat, only to return it back to the colony where they are then monitored and cared for. As time goes on, with no kittens being born, the colony will naturally decrease. All the cats get to live out their lives in a safe place.
If you still have questions please let us know in the comments 🙂
Once thing this poster doesn't cover, is how you can help:
1. Help fight overpopulation by making sure your cat is neutered (female or male).
2. Volunteer with CAAA- we are always looking for help with TNR. So if you have your own transport, consider volunteering with CAAA as a trapper (we will provide training). Alternatively we also need volunteer drivers to help transport cats to and from the vets.
3. Consider being a foster parent for cats and older kittens that can't be released back into the community. You need a spare room for the cat, CAAA will provide the food.
4. Donate dry cat food for our feral feeding programe or dry kitten food, alternatively donate to help to help pay our Vet Bills - you can find more information on our website: http://www.caaa.org.za/contribute
Thank you for your support 🙏 Let us continue to spread the word that TNR saves lives 😻
