Are you looking for a showstopper for your aquarium? The Electric Blue Jack Dempsey is a freshwater gem with striking, iridescent blue scales that instantly catch the eye. This unique color variant of the Jack Dempsey (Rocio octofasciata) is also calmer than its traditional counterpart, making it perfect for semi-aggressive community tanks.
💡 Why the name Jack Dempsey?
This fish was named after the famous 1920s heavyweight boxer, Jack Dempsey. Its bold appearance, strong build, and feisty attitude (in the standard variety) reminded early aquarists of the legendary fighter’s toughness in the ring!
🔑 Care Tips
• Tank Size: Minimum 200 liters. These fish grow up to 20 cm and need plenty of swimming space.
• Water Parameters: Temperature 24–28°C, pH 6.5–8.0, with moderate water flow.
• Diet: Omnivorous. Feed them high-quality pellets, frozen foods, and occasional live treats like bloodworms.
• Tankmates: Best kept with similarly sized fish that can tolerate semi-aggressive behavior. Avoid very small or overly aggressive species.
