Our Story
Always friendly, always happy to see you, loyal companion, humble, best friend and protector - The dog. Gotta Love Paws was inspired by two rescue pups who changed our lives in so many ways. Kayla, a black and tan Australian Kelpie, was wandering the streets of Vereeniging when I found her. At about 4 months old, she was friendly, but scared, and she quickly crawled into our hearts. The name "Kayla" came to mind as I was driving home with her - fittingly, as we later learned that it means "full of joy". And that she is. Mia, a tan German Shepard mix, came to our home a year and 3 months later. We adopted her from the Middelburg MP SPCA. She was the most difficult, but best decision that we have ever had to make - so many dogs to choose from, each one hoping that you would pick them ... Then we saw a small tan fur ball, approximately 4 and a half months old. She was standing up against the kennel fence - no jumping, or barking, or whining like all the others. Quite and slowly waging her tail .., broken ... She was the one. But, as Kayla was the only child in our house for so long, she would however be the determining factor. We fetched her from home and took her back with us to see what her reaction would be towards the tan pup - it was an instant hit. Once again, we picked a name on our way home, and once again it was a perfect fit - Mia, shy and timid as she still is, means "darling". The two girls have been inseparable ever since. And finally, that was where it all started - my girls, thankful for a second chance in life and for an abundance of love that they receive every single day. And what do they give in return? Well .., little paws of love on our clean clothes of course ...
