Happy Friyay
Chello was adopted, his mommy took a weeks 'paternity leave' to help him settle in.
He was with us 3 months waiting for the perfect home.
Go well boy, we will miss you.
We have many cats waiting for thier perfect hone.
Another 2 ferals sterilised thanks to the funding from National Sterilization Project .
These 2 are extremely loved.
Spoilt rotten with fresh raw meat daily and whole workshop of people who look out for them.
As the 1 man said yesterday when we collected them after they had gone into the traps ' I am watching you, you had better bring my cats back'
He wasn't there today when we returned them but we know he will be happy to know they are home.
The only negative to this campaign is our petrol costs have sky rocketed.
We are struggling to keep up with the costs.

Today has just been one of those days. The good the bad and the ugly. So 1 post will be about the good!
The original request was to remove all the ferals. We put together a proposal that was accepted and ferals are being returned sterilised.
The good we released 3 ferals back at the colony. 2 males and a female.
These 3 are no 9, 10 and 11 of the 70+ thanks to all the amazing donors at the National Sterilization Project .
Helping make our dreams come true.

The road we drove.
19 dogs safe with us.
A massive ongoing investigation will be happening. This is just the start.
some good news this evening, Netseke went home. He has rat poisoning and is on a course of Vit K.
Our vet bill jumped to R7025 with his 2nd drip and all the meds but to see his teenager smile and to watch them walk out was worth the stress of how we will pay the bill.

While trapping cats in Lehurutshe today we heard a dog barking and barking.
We found this boy.
Had a lovely chat with his owner.
Explained that chaining like this is against the animal protection act.
Advised until his fencing is sorted to rather do a running chain.
Explained about the collar vs rope.
Bruno is a stunning boy, his owner had been offered the opportunity to sterilise him via us. When we left Bruno was running around the property with dad.
We will be back in 2 weeks to follow up on him.
Education and rescue has no set hours.
Unique Welfare by Beunique Unlimited NPC .
Ps the excitement was because dad was home from church. Dad was walking past to the gate.
When at first you don't succeed. Don't give up!!!
After this yesterday a trap was no go.
We got him
Patience in 43'c heat.
Sometimes rescue doesn't go according to plan but we don't give up until we succeed.
2 nights ago, 19:01, we received a phone call asking how venomous a Mozambican spitting cobra is. From what we saw the day before when Sheilah was bitten, our answer was, it's dangerous, why.
Worsie, a daxie cross that was adopted from us was bitten in the neck, quite near his jugular. 5 mins later dad arrived. We had to stabilise and very quickly if we wanted to save this boy (we saw how Sheilah suffered and was not going to allow this boy to suffer the same fate). Messages and phone calls started to see what we could do. No vet available at that time but at least they did answer our messages. Worsie needed a drip asap with some meds and then lots of prayers for him to make the night. Dad left to sort out the house that he had to carry out as the snake was in hiding.
We immediately contacted Miena from African Snakebite Institute and South African Wildlife Rehabilitation Center who put us in contact with Arno from Snake Bite Assist , who put us in contact with Jason from Snake and Animal Park, Haartebeesport Dam. Jason helped us with all the do's and don'ts, kept us calm, told us what to look for and then said we need to pray.
Then the next call came in, Yster, their other rescue boy was also bitten, on the nose and his face is all swollen. Ivy, also adopted from us, went calling mom when Yster collapsed. They rushed Yster to us so we could see what we could do to get him through the night, he was worse of than poor Worsie.
Both boys were stabilised for the night and early Wednesday morning we got them to Marico Bosveld Dierekliniek for further care. Avontuur had antivenom which Marico Bosveld organised Wednesday morning when both boys were admitted. They helped us with 1 vial for Yster as he needed it urgently, massive thank you Avontuur Veterinary Services for helping us with that.
Wednesday morning our vet could at least give Yster his vial of antivenom and then the next calls started. We now had to get a vial for Worsie. Thank the heavens, Bergbos Dierek
6 of the 10 dogs we took in today. The other 4 are in our kennels as they do not get along with each other.
For the first time in their lives (some almost 4 years old, some 2 and some just over a year) they have felt sunshine, wind and rain on their bodies and grass under their paws. Its a shocker for them as they are used to being in a house, closed up, never allowed out for a run or a sniff. Waking up and staring at the 4 walls can be mentally challenging and these dogs are showing the signs. Over grown toe nails from being kept indoors, one runs in circles, some just sits in the back taking everything in, the others are excited to be free and they are all scared of the hand that reaches out to them. One thing is for certain, they are definitely in a much better and safer environment than where they came from.
They still settling in as they don't know the outside world so they don't know how to react to all of this but we know with time they will settle down and get used to all of this.
We urgently need some adult dog tin food so we can mix in calming meds for all 10 dogs just to help them cope a bit better. This is really a stressful situation the dogs are in as it's all new.
You can order from pnp ASAP or checkers 60/60 and have it delivered to us at
2 Vos Street
Zeerust
Your help will be appreciated by these dogs
We will also need help with their vet bills as all 10 dogs needs to go for medicals at our vet, toe nails need to be clipped, deworming needs to be done. We will do a new update on each group as they see our vet and payment details will be added for those who can help us towards these dogs bills.
Any donations towards these 10 dogs can be made to

Somedays it's a case of right place at right time.
And even though our heart breaks
Zax as we have named her is safe, has a full stomach and will not know hunger ever again.
While we were out on the call this morning. This girl was brought to the place after she showed up at someone's home. The place we were at did not have space so we offered to take her.
90% of the way to our vet she cried and cried then settled.
At the vet all of us including Dr Natalie were absolutely devastated at her emaciated state.
We decided to see if she would eat.
The video shows for itself the starvation.
She is safe with us. We are hoping there is no lasting kidney damage from the starvation but Time will tell and blood tests in a week.
We would love to spoil her with some wet quality food. If anyone would like to treat her.
www.epetstore.co.za has kit kat mousse or hills stew which we know she will love. The tins are the perfect 1 meal size as well.

Yesterday it took a village in 2 provinces to save Bessie. (A teeny tiny 2.8kg yorkie) who was bitten by a scorpion (Parabutus).
What a marathon it was.
The owners reacted immediately and dashed to Marico Bosveld Dierekliniek who did emergency stabilisation. Then the phone calls.
Hospital, other vets in the province.
No one had antivenom.
By now Bessie was going blue and struggling to breath.
We had an appointment with Marico bosveld and she mentioned she would be delayed and why.
We immediately started contacting people.
1st call was to Hermien Grobler from South African Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and african snakebite institute. Her reply 'I am making calls'
She called Arno Naude from snake bite assist who also replied 'hold on I am making calls'
He called Mike Perry from African Reptiles and Venom . Who replied I HAVE A VIAL.
Now the logistics how to get the vial from Diepsloot to Zeerust.
The owners have a daughter in jhb she drove to Mike collected the vial and drove to Rustenburg where her parents met her and drove like crazy to Zeerust. At 8h30 pm the antivenom was given by Dr Natalie and now the wait, would she have a reaction, would she be OK.
And we are extremely pleased to say she is doing extremely well.
The video is from this morning.
Mike Perry you pulled off a miracle yesterday.
It takes a village and people working with many different species to save a life.
We are extremely grateful to be part of this village.
Please note African Reptiles and venom offer courses on how to handle snake emergencies. It's an investment in you and your animals to attend them. They also offer online theory courses for those who don't want to actually handle snakes but need to know the do's and dont's when it comes to an emergency.
