She wants to run this in support of a pet charity (& raise necessary funda for them) 🐶😽

She’s looking for a specific charity that provides life-saving / important medical procedures to pets. We know the SPCA does, but are there any other?

Hi everyone! With so many new faces in the community, I thought I’d take a moment to reintroduce myself. 😊

I’m Lauren, and I started this account back in 2016 when I was living in Cape Town. I had just decided to bring little Mia into my life after falling in love with my roommate’s spaniel, Winnie—the dog who sparked it all. (I’ll share Winnie’s story another day! ❤️)

Fast forward a few years, and Mia and I were back in JHB. I created this space to bring dog owners together for meetups, to connect with like-minded people, and to see what other pups were up to.

Then Mia and I decided to add Moby to the family, and well, everything changed. 🤣 (Moby’s story is also one for another time!) Just before COVID, we started a podcast, The Pawcast, which we absolutely loved—but life had other plans. With the onset of COVID restrictions and spending so much time at home, Moby became more protective, and I became more inwardly focused to protect him. As a result, I stepped away from this account for a while.

After a couple of years, we’re back and excited to rebuild the community, albeit as a different type of dog owner than I was in 2016.

So, welcome to everyone! I hope this space feels like a safe, welcoming place for all of you. 🐾
