Today is an appreciation post for these guys.
I haven’t been feeling myself lately and so these two have been drowning me in cuddles and love. They know ❤️
I haven’t been as good with walking Moby and exposing him with training etc but that’s okay. This week is a new week ❤️
MOBY
Firstly I want to thank you all for the love and support during these last two weeks.
I have gotten a lot of messages about what he was like before so here is his story. Hopefully his story can help even just 1 pup ❤️
He was a parvo pup and so after 10 days on a feeding tube at the vet, separated from mom and litter, I brought him home in the hope he survived the night.
He did and that meant he needed to be isolated for a few months to ensure he doesn’t pass the parvo virus on.
This meant that his key puppy months of exposure to life was taken away from him. I didn’t realize how much this would impact him until just before lockdown.
I was socialising him as soon as I could and he was a star!
He slowly grew anxieties and fear. You could see there were moments where he wasn’t so sure of himself and eventually this developed into a reactivity where he was so fearful that he would just bark and lunge at anyone who came near him.
I began some training to see if it could be trained out of him and it wasn’t going too badly until LOCKDOWN.
He is VERY attached to Mia and I so now being with him all day and never exposing him to new adventures meant he was regressing.
As the levels lowered we started going to parks again and I could see his behaviour was 10 times worse. I left almost every park visit in tears and just complete defeat.
I eventually just decided to stop taking him to the park and kept him only interacting with the people and dogs he knew. This was okay but if he was unsure of someone, the gardeners came or a new person came over, then he was in complete distress.
Barking, growling, showing teeth, lunging.
I reached my breaking point and behavioralists and myself was not enough. So I started researching. I watched Canine Intervention on Netflix and decided I needed to look at in boarding.
After many hours of research I found @pawsdtc. I read the reviews, I chatted to Chantelle, I asked to come see the facilities before my starting date,
