Western Province Rottweiler Club A KUSA affiliated active Rottweiler club in the Western Cape , South Africa .

The objects of the Club shall be:-
a) to promote, encourage, foster and advance the breeding, well-being of and interest in the Rottweiler breed of dogs;
b) to observe and adhere to the Breed Standard of the Rottweiler breed of dogs as adopted from time to time by the Kennel Union of Southern Africa
c) to organise and hold shows (including match meetings) in breed, obedience and working trials / i

nternational working trials and other dog activities recognised by the Kennel Union of Southern Africa including training for any or all of these activities;
d) to train aspiring judges in the finer points of the Breed Standard;
e) to pass on to members, through all available media, developments and other aspects of importance to the breed;
f) To operate a Rescue Scheme to assist any unwanted or distressed Rottweilers;
g) To advise members that there are tests for the evaluation of Hip Dysplasia and they should be encouraged to ask their vets for details (information about this subject can be obtained direct from the Club);
h) To encourage members to observe the Club's Code of Ethics;
i) To ensure that all profits are devoted to the benefit of the Club and to the good of the Rottweiler Breed. Training to be restricted to members, but shows and canine education to be made available to the public at large.

𝗗𝗔𝗟𝗥𝗥𝗗’𝗦 𝗗𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗥𝗘𝗚𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗙 𝗗𝗢𝗚𝗦 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛 𝗔𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗔

On 13 March 2024, the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) issued a directive that, with effect from 1 April 2024, all applications for Veterinary Import Permits must be accompanied by a confirmation of compliance with the Animal Improvement Act No. 62 of 1998 (AIA) issued by the Registrar of Animal Improvement in the DALRRD. This directive seeks to enforce the provisions of section 16 of the AIA and does not only apply to production animals, but also to dogs.

KUSA is aware of the confusion and dismay this directive has caused and has also taken note of the appeals from KUSA members for clarity on its applicability to dogs. A meeting has been secured with the DALRRD to discuss the implications of the directive and the dilemma it poses for reputable dog breeders. It goes without saying that KUSA members will be kept informed of any progress.
