GAWS is a non-profit organisation which is fully self-funded and receives no Government or local municipality funding. We rely heavily on the support of our volunteers, our local community and the Facebook family out there…

United Efforts After Sir Lowry’s Pass Collision 🚨🐖

When we arrived at the scene of the devastating collision at Sir Lowry’s Pass, it was chaos—injured pigs, a burning truck, and heartbreak all round. But we weren’t alone. Side by side with Animal Welfare Society Helderberg, Animal Welfare Society Grabouw, Glen Graze, City Fire & Rescue, and law enforcement, we worked tirelessly to aid the injured animals and those still aboard the partially crushed trailer.

# A Second Chance at Life: A story worth following !

Meet two broken Souls– two survivors fighting for survival whose spirits remain unbroken despite continuous neglect.GAWS and the field team helped through sterilization and a feeding program.

These gentle souls faced severe undernourishment. A dicision has been made this weekend after numerous rescue attempts, they've been removed and surrendered to our care and are now on a road to recovery.

Despite their hardships, both dogs remain incredibly loving. Blessed with new names Loki and Monet , They now dream of a home where they'll never go hungry again, where they can finally experience the joy of being cherished family members. They are both fully vaccinated, sterilized, and ready to give all their love to a family who will treasure them forever.

We do need financial support and potential foster homes for this road of recovery.

High Noon farm asked us to help with the farm workers' pets as a lot needs to be done to better their lives. We started off surveying today, where we did education and got numbers (55 cats and dogs) for a mass steri day, as well as assisted with medical care where necessary. We'll do these surveys over weekends as to not interfere with our local commitments. Well done to their efforts for bettering lives 💕🐾

Our hearts are heavy today. For two days, a sweet girl lay sick and alone by the riverside before anyone reported her. When we finally reached her, despite everything she'd been through, she still showed trust in human kindness.

We made sure her final journey was peaceful and dignified. No more suffering, just gentle hands and caring hearts to help her across the rainbow bridge.

Please, if you see an animal in distress, don't wait or assume someone else will help. Be that someone. Every life matters, and every creature deserves kindness.

Day 1 at the Kennels New smells everywhere a warm bed and a blanket, their bellies are full and warm. They just need a little more time to trust in humanity again.

Tomorrow, the sun will rise over Grabouw Animal Welfare again. Maybe tomorrow will be the day when someone stops at Simons kennel and sees the wise friend he could be. Maybe tomorrow, Grace’s tennis ball will finally be caught by hands that will take her home. Maybe tomorrow, Plinko will limp-race his way into someone's heart, or Pearl will find a lap to share, or Tino will bound into her very first real home.
