"Wish" (Wylwind My Dream Come True), with owner Kayleigh Heideman, has qualified as a Therapy Dog 😍Most people will know from personal experience how absolutely valuable our dogs are in our own lives, but it is so heartwarming to see dogs bringing comfort and joy and making a difference in other peoples lives too. Well done Kayleigh and Wish! ❤️

Perfect day in Cape Town on this beautiful winter’s day … walking with my Sheltie in the mountains of course. She is wary of other dogs and cyclists so I have taught her to race towards me and jump into my arms if she sees either of these “threats” to her comfort zone … which she does sometimes unexpectedly to me (hearing and seeing them before I do) 🤣🤣. It happened on 3 occasions on this walk and three times I had a Sheltie jump up to me before I saw the “threat” … but it’s 10000 times better than her running away in fear. I’m beyond grateful for this tactic.

Another hugely proud moment for Wylwind - the beautiful Kwik [Wylwind Kiss Me Kwik] with Caz Patrick at the KUSA FCI Championship Show won the bitch CACIB and BOS under Judge Mrs M.Tako (Japan) and at the KUSA FCI A20 Ch Show under Judge Mr M.Igawa (Japan) Kwik won the A20 CAC, the Bitch CC and Best SA Bred!! Kwik has also achieved a KUSA Trick Dog Elementary title this year! Beauty and brains in these gorgeous shelties! Well done Caz!

So proud of Mitzi Pilgrim and Gibson [CH,GR.CH(BREED)CH (CART) WYLWIND GIBSON'S DREAM JM, NAT.BREED'22, ZAW'22 CGC] at the KUSA Nationals this weekend!! At the KUSA FCI Championship Show, under Judge Mrs M.Tako (Japan), Gibson won the dog CACIB and BOB; then at the KUSA FCI A20 Championship Show, under Judge Mr M. Igawa (Japan) he was RBOB, and today at the KUSA National Awards, under Judge Dr.A.Wardhana (Indonesia) Gibson won the title of KUSA National Shetland Sheepdog 2024!! In addition to the above, he also won the National Mini Carting Dog award this weekend!!

Kadie (BVIS RBVIS Ch Grandgables Most Appealing Imp Can) is 11 years old today! My first sheltie - my start to this beautiful breed. Thank you Guy Jeavons for this wonderful, gentle, dedicated, sensitive-to-all-the-family's-moods-and-needs sheltie. She is showing her age now, but still loves a good ball chase and a run through the shallows at the beach :) ... and to cuddle up on the couch in the evening.

In my planning to breed Emily later this year, I am again studying her pedigree. A dog is, of course, the result/combination of the beautiful dogs in their pedigree, thanks to the discerning breeders who have carefully chosen their breeding stock. Here I want to feature the stunning males in Emily's pedigree (Emily is Ch Hartly Mimosa of Wylwind JM Imp Aus). Tomorrow I will feature the equally beautiful females in her pedigree. The males are from the following kennels - Hartly (Nicole Pearson); Lyndream (Lyn Pearson); Charmhill (Christine Klempel); Molson (Jane Hill) and Louanda (Sue Lishman).

What an experience at Crufts 2024! ... seeing all the breeds and meeting friends and fellow breeders and meeting new ones ... but the most important was seeing Siena (Wylwind Designed for Grandgables) and Guy Jeavons again! I am beyond proud of them! Siena came 3rd in the Junior Bitch class out of 10 entered, under specialist sheltie judge Dr Jane Hill (Molson).

6 years ago today a very special litter of shelties was born ... to "Ava" - Ch Lochwind Freeze Frame of Paray (imp USA), who came to me in South Africa for a time thanks to Gail Jones of Lochwind, Australia, and "Oberon" (Wylwind Chasing Rainbows at Du Ventoux - bred from my bi-blue bitch, Iris - Ch & CanCh Laureate Iridescent at Wylwind Imp Canada. Happy 6th birthday Zoey, Ithemba, Lexi, Lilly and Amy!! All with wonderful owners, Ithemba now living in France.
