Does your dog 'scoot'?

You may be surprised to find out that it's not always worms that causes them to do this.
It could also be likely that they have an issue with the a**l sac/s - which are 2 glands situated on either side of the a**s. They may be clogged, impacted or full, and this will require a quick 'squeeze' from your vet, or in severe or regular issues, they may require surgical removal.

So the next time you see your dog scooting, don't just give them a dewormer, but rather have them checked out by your vet to find out what is the true cause of this.

Testimonial Tuesday

This was quite a special case for us, and without our Carer being certified in Pet First Aid and emergencies, as well as trusting her instincts, Bryce & Tasch's beloved cat, Chip would surely have died without our intervention.

A few days into our stay, Sandy noticed that Chip wasn't behaving like his usual self. After informing the owners, it was agreed to take Chip to an After-Hours emergency vet (as it was a Sunday) to be checked up. The residing vet gave nausea medication and administered some fluids, then sent him home.
The following day Sandy was still concerned and trusted her instinct that something 'just wasn't right' with Chip and after contacting the owners again, they agreed to take him to their usual vet for a follow up.

It was here that they suspected poisoning (possibly from lilies or anti-freeze etc.) and Chip was going into kidney failure. He was admitted immediately and placed into their Intensive Care Unit for treatment. With regular feedback from the vet to the owners, they were advised that Chip's condition was severe and he may not survive. Bryce and Tasch decided to cut their holiday short to be there for their kitty and the potential dreadful possibility of his passing away.

It was touch and go for a bit, but Chip was a fighter and with his beloved owners by his side, each day he slowly improved. Eventually he was taken out of ICU and allowed to go home to be monitored and care for by his family and feline best friend until his full recovery.

Chip is back to his healthy, happy and playful self, and his owners are super grateful that he is alive thanks to Sandy's expertise and trusting her instincts - even after the first vet said he would be fine in a day.
Thank You Sandy. You truly saved his life!

If they are eliminating inappropriately - i.e. in your bed etc, get them checked out by your vet to make sure there are no medical issues causing this.

Although cats are fastidious groomers, sometimes they may need a little help.
We recommend brushing them on a regular basis, especially longer haired cats, to help keep their coat glossy, and shiny, aid in removing or reducing knots and it is also a great bonding experience between you and your little kitty companion. Oftentimes cats will purr during these sessions and remain in a calm, relaxed position.
Start with short sessions if your cat or new kitten is not used to it, gradually building up as they become more comfortable with being brushed. If they seem irritated, or get up and move away, allow them to leave, however always provide them with a small treat to reward them after each and every session.

Certifications will be provided at our Meet & Greet.

Pet PA is a registered member of Pet Sitters International, keeping us up to date with the latest information, pet trends and international standards!

We also arrange a free Meet & Greet prior to our first sit, so that you may meet your Sitter and get to know exactly who is staying in your home! We get to meet your pets and learn their routine. Furthermore, you will be kept in daily contact with your sitter for the whole duration you are away!
