Seeking the people who dropped a brown tan puppy off at the SPCA PIETERMARITZBURG on Sunday afternoon 14 July 2024. THE DOG HAD RABIES! Their lives are in imminent danger and they could die of rabies in the next few weeks. They require immediate treatment... please help us find these people... they need to go to the nearest government hospital for free treatment.

The virus enters the body through a bite or contact with saliva from an infected animal.. The puppy was extremely aggressive and probably bit people prior to surrender.... once the virus seats itself in a nerve death is 100%... successful treatment depends on time and they have hours before it is too late.

Dear Esteemed Patrons of the Veterinary Practice,

It has come to my attention that amidst the bustle of tail wags and gentle purrs, a whispered curiosity lingers in the air—a puzzle of identities waiting to be unraveled. Yes, dear readers, even within these hallowed halls of healing and care, the mystery of Kitty Whistledown's identity has sparked intrigue.

Could she be the distinguished veterinarian herself, whose tender touch and sage advice soothe both pet and owner alike? Or might she be the diligent receptionist, whose discreet observations capture the nuances of every patient's visit? Some speculate she could even be the dedicated groomer, with nimble fingers and a keen eye for detail.

Her prose, though unattributed, resonates with the keen insight and compassion one might expect from those who tend to the health and happiness of our beloved companions. From heartwarming tales of recovery to whispered secrets shared in the waiting room, Kitty Whistledown's observations are as varied as they are intriguing.

So, dear patrons, as you bring forth your furry friends for their check-ups and treatments, I encourage you to join in the delightful speculation. Could it be the kindly soul administering vaccinations? The skilled surgeon who mends broken bones? Or perhaps someone entirely unexpected, hiding in plain sight amidst the daily routines of caring for our pets?

Let us indulge in this charming game of deduction with a gentle heart and a keen eye. For in the spirit of our dear Kitty Whistledown, every pet's journey holds a story waiting to be told.

Yours in curiosity and compassion,
Kitty Whistledown

Dear Readers,

It is with great pleasure that I bring to your attention a matter of utmost importance:

The benefits of spaying our dear female canine companions.

As your faithful informant, I must implore you to consider the health and well-being of our beloved pets.

First and foremost, spaying our female dogs leads to a longer and healthier life. It significantly reduces the risk of uterine infections and breast tumors, which are unfortunately quite common in unspayed females. Prevention is, indeed, better than cure.

Furthermore, spaying contributes to a more peaceful household. We've all witnessed the restless antics of a dog in heat, not to mention the added challenge of managing unwanted advances from amorous suitors. Spaying puts an end to such hormonal dramas, allowing for a calmer and more relaxed environment for both pet and owner alike.

Let us not forget the larger societal benefits as well. By spaying our female dogs, we help curb the overpopulation crisis that plagues many shelters and rescue organizations. Every spayed dog means fewer unwanted puppies facing uncertain futures.

And now, dear readers, I have exciting news to share: there are only six days left to take advantage of our current sterilization promotion! This is an opportunity not to be missed. Contact your trusted veterinarian today to schedule an appointment and secure these benefits for your furry companion.

In matters concerning the health and happiness of our pets, let us act swiftly and decisively. Together, we can ensure a brighter, safer future for our canine friends.

Yours in gossip and good intentions,
Kitty Whistledown

My dear gentle readers,

It has come to my attention that an important matter requires our immediate consideration: the sterilization of our dear feline companions.

While the topic may not seem as thrilling as the latest gossip from Mayfair or the latest fashion in bonnets, it is indeed a matter of utmost importance.

First and foremost, let us address the indisputable fact that an unspayed female cat can produce litter after litter of kittens, contributing to the ever-growing population of strays roaming our streets. Imagine the plight of these poor creatures, left to fend for themselves in the harsh urban jungle, without a loving hand to care for them.

Moreover, the amorous adventures of unneutered toms are not without consequence. Their wanderlust leads to unwanted pregnancies in unsuspecting queens, perpetuating a cycle of irresponsibility and neglect.

Now, some may argue that it is a matter of personal choice or even a question of tradition, but I implore you to consider the broader implications. By sterilizing our cats, we not only prevent the birth of countless kittens into uncertain futures but also ensure the health and longevity of our cherished pets.

In conclusion, dear reader, let us not turn a blind eye to this pressing issue. Let us instead embrace our responsibility as conscientious pet owners and follow in the footsteps of propriety by ensuring the sterilization of our cats. After all, it is not only a matter of societal obligation but also a demonstration of our compassion and care for these beloved creatures who depend on us for their well-being.

Yours sincerely,

Kitty Whistledown

My Dearest Readers,

It is with great pleasure that I bring to your attention a most pertinent matter: the impending conclusion of a month dedicated to the noble cause of pet sterilization.

As the clock ticks toward the stroke of midnight on June 30th, let us not forget the importance of ensuring the health and well-being of our beloved furry companions.

May we seize this fleeting opportunity to partake in this special endeavor, for the benefit of both our cherished pets and the community at large.

Shall we not dally, dear readers, for time waits for no one, especially not when it comes to matters of such significance?

Yours sincerely
Kitty Whistledown

We have had a couple of calls today from concerned pet parents regarding the article in the Witness about Leptospirosis.

Leptospirosis vaccine has been included in our annual set of vaccinatons since 2023. If you have either of the two vaccine stickers in your pet's vaccine book (Vanguard plus 5/L) then they have had a Leptospirosis vaccinaton.

There is no current feline Leptospirosis vaccine but they are generally thought not to be affected.

🐾 Attention Pet Owners! 🐾

The Benefits of Sterilizing Your Pets

🌟 Why Sterilize Your Pet?
Spaying or castrating your pet is a responsible choice. It’s not just about preventing unwanted pregnancies—it has significant health benefits too!

Females (Spaying):

Lower Cancer Risk: Spayed female dogs have significantly lower rates of mammary cancer.

No Pyometra: Removal of the uterus eliminates the risk of life-threatening infections like pyometra.

Males (Neuter/Castration):

Healthier Prostate: Castrated males are less likely to suffer from testicular or prostate diseases.

Behavioral Improvements: Neutering reduces hormone-related behaviors like mounting and roaming.

Remember, sterilizing also helps control the pet population and prevents overcrowded shelters. 🐕🐈
