ℹ️🎆 Fireworks 101

Precautions for your sound sensitive dogs:

✅️ Put them inside the house, ideally in a crate covered with a blanket (unless they are happier and more relaxed with you). Bathrooms, kitchens and garages are not good choices as these spaces can amplify noises.
✅️ Leave a radio or tv on for some background noise.
✅️ An extra special chewie (filled with some unsalted and unsweetened peanut butter) will work wonders to help ease any anxiety.
✅️ Some homeopathic remedies for dogs can also be effective.
✅️ Putting an old tshirt onto your dog and wrapping the bottom snugly around them can provide additional comfort. A suitably sized "buff" covering their ears can also help. *Use only under supervision*
✅️ Scared dogs breath more rapidly and get hot quickly and hot dogs get more anxious, creating a nasty cycle. Use a fan or air con to help cool things down.
✅️ Provide calm comfort if required without creating any additional anxiety.

If you are using calming medications please do so only under veterinary guidance. Do NOT give human sedatives. Please also ensure that any calming medicine does not just remove the dog's ability to move while their mental faculties remain totally unaffected - as you can imagine this is even more terrifying for the dog.
