Please be aware and stay vigilant 😪💔

It remains one of the most devastating and cruel events for any pet family. Members of our community should be aware that a number of poisonings have now been confirmed in the Boksburg and Benoni area this week.
However there are poisonings in every suburb daily!
Criminals are using the opportunity to illegally gain access to properties and to eliminate the “early warning systems” that dog’s naturally provide through barking.
Tragically it is dogs who are paying the ultimate price by being poisoned.
Early treatment can be successful, prevention remains infinitely better.
Poison causes unbearable suffering and your pet is likely to die even with intensive treatment which is also a costly exercise.

Besides several dog theft cases that have also ended tragically, poisoning remains the first line of risk to our dogs in South Africa.
Most poisonings are confirmed cases of “two-step” poison which was originally formulated as a form of rodent control.
Pets also remain highly at risk for secondary poisonings due to cats and dogs ability to catch mice and rats who may have recently ingested poison.
