Meet “scout” rescued off the M2 highway near the notorious Georg Koch hostel in benrose area downtown Jhb. There are many greyhounds in the area in the hostel and squatter camps nearby. He was hit by a car and suffered a bag femur break that has been pinned by our vet Dr Jansen at Bergbron Animal Clinic . He was discharged today and will need a few weeks of rehab and rest. He is anywhere between 10 months to a year old and was nuetered . Thanks to the team at Animal Protection Network - Alberton that got him to a vet from where we transferred him to Bergbron animal clinic. He has a lot of small superficial wounds but is otherwise ok with Lots of spoils coming his way. A great start to 2025 for the dogs in this post. All adopted into great homes. “Quest” was rescued in diepsloot with a badly broken leg that was plated. Thanks to Byron for adopting him as a mate for his beautiful black greyhound. “Chase” was originally adopted from the spca and surrendered to us. He was homed to Jonathan and family that have another greyhound adopted from us. We worked with the particular spca branch on the Rehoming. “Mbali “ our magnificent dark brindle front leg amputee eventually found her home with Mike and family and joins their whippet. The too cute little atlas the iggy pup found his forever home with Alex and Jason long time iggy parents. “Toe Bean” had been waiting patiently for his forever home at Alberton SPCA, Gauteng until previous adopters recently adopted him after the passing of one of our rescues called Forrest. “Zorba” the iggy found his home with Helen and hubby after losing both their iggys to Old age. Zorba was previously an outside dog and is loving his new life in the bed !

Greyhounds prepping for Christmas ❤️🎄🐶🐾

This young male arrived as a stray picked up during last weeks storm. He’s in bad shape with old bite wounds on the front leg and inside back leg that got infected. He also has a very low red blood cell count and Erlichia on top of it. Definitely a hunting dog riddled with worms but has a great personality. We’ve named him “Badger” and is recovering slowly on medication for 15 days with good nutrition including livers.
