HAPPY SPRING DAY🌸🌸🌸🌸To step into spring I thought I would share one of our patients stories! Fergus a little min pin x daxi slipped a disc in his neck which left him paralysed from the neck down…. The poor little dude couldn’t even lift his head to eat or drink…..He underwent a ventral slot decompression of C6-C7. After 10days in hospital he was transferred to us to continue his nursing and start intensive physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. Fortunately he was able to urinate at this point otherwise we have to express the bladder/ catheterise….He weighed 7.4kgs. He had deep pain and withdrawal but still couldn’t move or turn himself….. we were helping him to stand, doing passive range of motion & turning him every couple of hours. He also started underwater treadmill and laser. In the water we could get some motor function and so the treatments began! We helped to stimulate the nerves with Stimpod and acupuncture….. We are happy to announce that he got his summer body and is running. He is now weighing 6.1kgs. He will be discharged on Monday 6 weeks post op❤️We wish him well and may he continue regaining his strength 💐
Happy Friday ❤️ Mia is getting better❤️
Please keep Mia in your thoughts… She has had to go back into hospital for other health issues…..Mia has just started taking a few wobbly steps after being left paralysed from a spinal injury. (FCE or type 2 disc) . We wish her a speedy recovery ❤️
This is why I do what I do! This little daxi presented at the vet in agony, paralyzed back legs and very frightened! She bit the vet and owner during the consultation! She had no deep pain which means she couldn’t feel her back paws at all! At this point prognosis is poor! She had surgery for slipped discs L1-L3. This is her taking wobbly steps two weeks post op! ❤️❤️❤️🐾🐾🐾
