HAPPY SPRING DAY 🌻🌞🌻🌞
#whosaystrainingneedstobeboring
Your Furry's superpower is their nose. They couldn't chain Superman, so why prevent your Furry doing what comes naturally?
Sniffing reduces anxiety, builds confidence, provides information about the world, aids in mental stimulation.

Want to have fun investing in your Furry's education? Think about teaching a trick or two 🙂.
Tricks are a great way to improve on obedience skills, to teach focus, to increase confidence & most importantly to have FUN.
If you are interested in joining a trick class, please contact Furryfrenz for more information.

A snip from our SPCA interview this morning
Theo ‘ACED’ his emergency stop today.
I always take every opportunity to practice this very necessary & important behaviour.

So proud of our Furries & their peeps

The most rewarding ‘thing’ that any person can ask from their Furry is a solid relationship built on trust, respect, understanding & love.
Theo from a very early age was very different from the Shepherds that I previously had the privilege of sharing my life with. While they were eager to please & would train for hours on end if I asked them, Theo had other ideas.
Of course, he was happy enough to oblige for a period of time, but there were other things that a young pup needed to do, like dig & chew & chase ants & snooze amongst other things that to this day keep me very humble 😊. So after a while, he would politely walk off & no amount of treats would entice him back.
In the beginning, I would get very upset & frustrated (I am human after all) & I would sit & wonder where I was going wrong. Surely as a trainer, I should be able to ‘get’ my dog to work!
After a while & after many tears, I began to realise that this had absolutely nothing to do with me! This was a team effort after all & I had to respect my partner’s decision when enough was enough. It took some time, but once I came to this realisation, Theo started to trust me more because he knew that I respected his decision to walk away.
Mutual respect & trust became the core of our bond. I did not need to ‘dominate’ him in order to train him or to ‘get him to do what I wanted him to do’! He works with me because he wants to & we have so much fun in the process. We certainly don’t train for hours on end & sometimes a session can be as short as 5 minutes.
Important lessons that I have learnt on this journey with Theo is to be patient & most importantly be consistent. Work at your Furry’s pace & accept that there are going to be some really good days & some really bad days too.
It is important to realise that this is about the journey & not the destination. You are not in competition. So, work with the dog you have in front of you & never compare your Furry to the ones who hav
