My journey with changing a dog's behaviour through Games started a few years back when we adopted Bogart as an adult rescue from a shelter. He had quite a few issues when he came to us and when I eventually came across Games as a way of training to improve his behaviour, everything changed for the better. We developed a great bond and I was finally able to help him (and me)! Emotions drive Behavio

ur - how your dog feels toward something, will determine their reaction. If they don't have the skills to cope, they will react inappropriately. You can up-skill your dog by working on specific Skills (also called Concepts) of which there are many, such as Recall, Focus, Calm, Disengagement from distractions (lunging, barking) and Re-Engagement with you, Optimism, Confidence, Independence, Proximity (staying closer to you) and more, by playing short behaviour-changing Games making it a positive, interactive and fun way to train, build and repair your relationship, and change your dog's underlying emotions and thereby their behavioural outcome in situations. Learning through Play is powerful and long-lasting. These Games are for any breed, any age, any problem behaviour issues.

Yvett Haarburger is creating these beautiful 'planned placement' training mats to raise funds for our outreach campaigns.

These nifty mats are slightly padded, use a waterproof base fabric for the bottom and have bespoke loops so that you can add tent pegs at each corner to stop the wild Cape wind from playing havoc with your training efforts.

The shwe shwe fabric ones are a special order and come at an elevated price as the fabric has to be pre-shrunk and is already narrow to begin with.
Also available in grey/black camo or you can supply your own fabric (we'll discount accordingly)

These are sewn on order with roughly a two week turn-around time. Yvett can also add a handy matching travel bag for your convenience.

🐾 Building Confidence and Mental stimulation.... Cardboard Chaos game.... Scatter feeding in amongst cardboard boxes creates a good association with something that can be scary for some dogs... Zoe isn't confident to stick her head into boxes and small wins like getting a biscuit or treat when the box moves is actually a big win for her in realising she can do it! Zoe's first agility run outside of her class....I was very nervous to take her leash off... wasn't sure what to expect!!! Building confidence...using a Cone! The idea is to build up the duration of Zoe sticking her head right down into the cone.... Building Confidence continued...part 3.... Zoe's getting enthusiastic about putting her muzzle into the container! Use your marker word "Yes!" to let them know they've done the right thing and reward.... Initially mark and reward all attempts, then gradually start being picky and mark and reward the better attempts when their muzzles go further in... Once they are sticking their nose in then hold the container and wait for them to keep their muzzle in that second longer, mark and reward! Building Confidence part 2... Zoe backed away from anything we had in our hands or picked up...the water bowl, tea cup, tupperware, she looked at everything with suspicion 😔 I don't think she was exposed to anything with the family who had her before they gave her up for adoption... Having some yoghurt in the container encouraged Zoe to go toward something she is wary of and put her head inside!

Teaching "Touch" ....this helps to build up Zoe's confidence...when we first adopted Zoe, she would back away from anything we picked up, her water bowl, our tea or coffee cup, any item we held!
