Hobbes the Hound Help with Recalls, Focus, Loose-leash walking, House-training, Lunging, Barking, Counter surfing, Confidence building, Training, Enrichment, Games & Tricks

My journey with changing a dog's behaviour through Games started a few years back when we adopted Bogart as an adult rescue from a shelter. He had quite a few issues when he came to us and when I eventually came across Games as a way of training to improve his behaviour, everything changed for the better. We developed a great bond and I was finally able to help him (and me)! Emotions drive Behavio

ur - how your dog feels toward something, will determine their reaction. If they don't have the skills to cope, they will react inappropriately. You can up-skill your dog by working on specific Skills (also called Concepts) of which there are many, such as Recall, Focus, Calm, Disengagement from distractions (lunging, barking) and Re-Engagement with you, Optimism, Confidence, Independence, Proximity (staying closer to you) and more, by playing short behaviour-changing Games making it a positive, interactive and fun way to train, build and repair your relationship, and change your dog's underlying emotions and thereby their behavioural outcome in situations. Learning through Play is powerful and long-lasting. These Games are for any breed, any age, any problem behaviour issues.

Working with Pixie in different environments... Showed her and practiced the step ladder where to get up and where to jump down onto and made sure it didn't slip out or tip from under her... Enjoying working with this little munchkin!! 💕🐾💕

The aftermath of the blue monster and friends...signs of a fun time for them! now I pick up, get my sewing needle and thread to sew the toys up ready for fun again next weekend 😂😂😂

Terriers and other breeds love to shred things..... especially fluffy toys...

Letting your dog do what they were bred to do, their innate behaviours, makes them happy!

"Noise box" builds confidence.... Bogart searches for his dinner biscuits scattered amongst safe recycling of different sorts in a box or pond.
All the different textures and noises of the recycling moving around when they snuffle, and as the dogs realise nothing hurts them and they find food, it starts changing the association to a positive one.

Bogart goes slowly at first balancing own the edge and then happy to be in the middle of the pond, all 4 paws in!

Zoe hovers around the edge, she keeps her weight shifted, ready to run!! She gets a fright from some noise and then, regains herself and she steps back in with her front paws!! That's great, that's what I'm wanting and I'll keep helping her and keep changing the recycling in the pond to make different noises.

Bentley starts off quite apprehensive and later is happy to be in the middle of the pond, all 4 paws in!

Bugsy is happy to be standing with 2 paws in and 2 paws out of the pond, ideally I'd like all 4 paws in!

Once a week or every 2 weeks they get an Ostrich Neck bone which doesn't shatter and I think it cleans their teeth. I stay with them while they're busy with their bones and they don't steal from each other. Pixie and Bentley chose to chew next to each other and I left them together.

High value bones and chews should not be left with your dogs unattended.... Normally dogs should be separated and even in different areas of the house or garden behind gates to avoid any potential issues between the dogs. You don't want any of the dogs stealing each other's bones - this is their chew and they should be able to enjoy it unrushed, and not need to guard it from anyone.

I sit on the fence about raw Vs kibble and so I feed 1/3 raw, 1/3 cooked veg (sweet potatoe, pumpkin or butternut, green beans, cabbage, broccoli, beetroot) and 1/3 kibble. They all get the same amount of meat and veg and I adjust the amount of kibble accordingly.
