Sweet Rosie, now just over 3 months old, is an adorable almost pitch-black pup who recently found her forever home. But just a few short weeks ago, her future looked very uncertain...
During the horrendous April floods, Kerry from The WOW Project was alerted to a mom and her pups on a waterlogged property in Atlantis with no proper shelter. The pups were freezing, and mom was doing her best to protect them. Kerry quickly organized a jumbo kennel and warm blankets, making things a bit cozier at least for this furry family.
Kerry eventually took in the pups herself, ensuring they were fed, vaccinated, and made sure mom was scheduled for sterilization. They became known as the litter and were named accordingly... Yep, as if things were not bad enough, Rosie started off in life being known as !
Before long, this superheroine legend and her equally gorgeous siblings were ready to be introduced to the WOW project adoption days and not surprisingly attracted lots of attention. One Saturday, Judy and her daughter Hayley fell in love with this special girl... however, Judy hesitated, explaining she couldn’t adopt her because she already had a possessive rescue dog at home named Mia.
A short while later, Judy and Hayley returned, unable to get cute Wonder woman out of their minds. Leigh, a WOW volunteer, on duty that day, suggested a meeting with a behaviourist. An hour or two later, Leigh followed Judy and Hayley home with the precious, silky black cargo on board, and having already contacted Zoey a behaviourist, they met in the local park, with Mia, and her family.
It was touch and go at first, but slowly and surely, they made great progress, when introducing the newly named Rosie to Mia... resulting in a sleepover and simply taking it one day at a time. Leigh and Zoey were on speed dial... always available to help and we are thrilled to share that 3 weeks later, Rosie is now officially adopted... and best of all, she and Mia are best friends!
Where there’s a will, there is always a way. Huge thanks to Judy and Hayley for their perseverance and for not giving up on the idea ... and to Leigh and Zoey for making it happen!❤️
