The Africanis Assistance Network NPC Rescue organization for networking and rehoming the special Africanis or 'mixed breed' dogs. These beautiful, special dogs are so often overlooked for adoption.
(3)

They make the most amazing family members, and are highly intelligent and trainable. Sadly, these animals are most often subject to terrible neglect and cruelty due to their ever-increasing numbers in poverty stricken areas and informal settlements. They most-often face euthanasia after rescue due to severe illness or neglect, or simply the fact that there are so many of them, and so few available

homes. Often they face the sad fate of being confined to kennels for months or even years after rescue, as they are not a 'popular' choice for adoption. No matter how humane or kind the rescue organization they end up in may be, this is not the life for any dog, and especially the Africanis Mix Breed. This is a dog with a huge capacity to love and be loved, and will leave it's special paw print on your heart and soul, long after it is gone. Breed Description:
The South African 'Africanis Mix Breed' is in fact a landrace, and not a breed. No human intervention in their constant evolvement was, is, or will be planned. It is the umbrella term for all Southern African Native dogs. It refers to Africa (the continent) and Canis (dog). Over the centuries they have been shaped by Africa for Africa. They are part of biodiversity and the cultural heritage of humankind. The beauty of this dog is embodied in the simplicity and functionality of its build. The Africanis Mix Breed is medium sized, slender built and well muscled. It is agile and supple, moves in a very natural and easy manner, and can run at great speed. It is found in a wide range of colours, with or without markings. A ridge of varying form can sometimes be seen on the back. The ears may be erect, half erect or drooping. The carriage of ears and tail is linked to the dog's awareness of its environment. It is a dog which needs neither pampering nor special food. It is consistently healthy and has, over the years, developed a natural resistance against internal and external parasites. The Africanis Mix Breed simply needs your company. As a primitive hound it is guided by the instinct of subservience, the very drive that made its distant ancestors prime candidates for domestication. It is bound to its human partners and its territory. It will follow you for hours without being on a lead. From a health care point of view, the routine vaccinations and deworming/flea treatment are needed.. But you won't need to open an account at a veterinary clinic. The Africanis Mix
is a cost effective dog.

UP FOR ADOPTION

📌 CURRENTLY IN FOSTERCARE IN PTA, GAUTENG

SWEET KNOX 🩵

This little pup and his mom were uplifted from a shocking setup in the township. Truly brutal.
He was so terrified, of everything, we put them into a foster home together.
The rest of his litter were dead or given away😥

We can confidently say he is half Africanis, because his mom is a beautiful Africanis. Dad we don't know, but definitely no powerbreed in this little guy.

Knox is getting all his vaccs, deworming, tick and flea stuff, and will be sterilised and microchipped. He is going for a checkup again on Friday.

He has been in foster for a couple of weeks now, and true to an innocent puppy, he has started to play! He loves to grab a toy and run away from you! He is learning how to live with other dogs, cats, children. He is eating good food, and being housetrained😊

Knox is going to be a very handsome, medium size adult.

He has the cutest white toes on all four paws, a small white chest blaze, and the tip of his tale looks like it was dipped in white paint!

🏠 All our rescues must sleep indoors and be an integral part of the family and household.

🐾Home checks apply
🐾Adoption contract applies
🐾Adoption fee of R1500 applies to cover all costs incl puppy medical care as well as sterilisation and microchip.

👑Beautiful Jackson👑
REVISED POST -link to original post below!
New photos updated.

Jackson has been given a little bit of time to settle and reassessed in peace and quiet.

His looks are more German Shepherd, but his BEHAVIOUR is more Husky.

He is an absolute puppy, and when he meets you he literally slams into you and jumps up.
When he focuses on you he becomes mouthy (bitey) with your hands and it can be very overwheming for individuals of small stature with no patience or knowledge of dogs.
He growls but not as a warning, it is playful.

🚫JACKSON IS NOT AGGRESSIVE BUT DOES NOT TOLERATE MALE DOGS.
🚫NO CATS.
🚫NO CHILDREN UNDER 12 YEARS (he is too boisterous).
🚫JACKSON IS NOT A SECURITY DOG.

Breeding two extremely high agility breeds into this dog has resulted in one very confused little boy.

It's easier to work WITH a dog behavior/character than try to work against it.
Any home that is less than what he requires will be set up for failure from the start.

This dog will be remarkable with an owner that can accept he is adopting a naughty ADHD dog that might one day calm down 😊

🏠 All our rescues must sleep indoors and be part of the family and household.

Our gentle Boo Bear.
When rescued his only alternative was to be PTS.
So we took him into permanent foster care, with dedicated foster mommy Talia Hirsch Levy ❤️ He is living out his twilight years with so much love, and medication to keep him pain free and enjoying his food! Di Hingley , thank you 🙏🏻
He has recently slowed down somewhat, but Boo Bear will tell us when he's ready to go.

PLEASE NOTE:
As posted before:
It's irritating for those of you who know to read and equally irritating for me to post, AGAIN.

The Africanis Assistance Network NPC is currently NOT TAKING IN ANY NEW DOGS.
PLEASE DO NOT REFER ANY IMMIGRATION, DOWNSIZING, CRUELTY, FOSTERS NEEDED OR ANY OTHER DOG WELFARE CASES TO ME.

I am weak and ill and must undergo two more surgeries as well as a recovery period.
My organizations runs using foster homes who are caring for current rescues. Please, I am currently only on FB to take my mind off what's going on in my life right now.
I have to get myself through this, so that I can be strong enough to start operating my organisation.
I am doing this on my own, with a bit of help from my 86 year old mother.
I still have to perform normal daily tasks, get groceries etc, as well as deal with the medical bills that are now flooding in.
It's very distressing to me to receive calls, messages and pictures of dogs that I currently cannot help.

This situation is TEMPORARY. Please allow me some space.
I was never in good health before the first surgery ...
I desperately want to get back to welfare and sincerely hope to do so within the foreseeable future. It is my calling, what I want to be doing.
I am trying to get back to where I was.
Much love ❤️

15/03/2024

Just to assure you all (all three of you), I am crawling my way out of the 7th circle of hell, just to be in time for surgery no 2.
I had forgotten that surgery puts me back physically and mentally a great deal.
The Africanis Assistance will be networking to help other org's dogs (Africanis Dogs!)
And will be operating as usual after the next two months.
I am so sorry we cannot help take in rescues during this time.
The amount of pain meds has put me in a fog, almost like pregnancy brain, without the pregnancy.
Thank you for all the kind messages. They are so appreciated ❤️

Julli's Journey

A terribly malnourished, neglected and scared Africanis was brought in to Oakdene Veterinary Clinic and we were phoned to take her before her time ran out(rescues take up cage space at a vet, they have to go, eventually).

We named her Callie🩷

She moved to one of our foster homes with the amazing Kris Smuts .....

And this little skinny Soweto stray caught a wonderful woman's eye😊

In October this year, our Zulli (renamed by her new forever mom) will be jetting off to Frankfurt, Germany ✈️🥳
She will be living in a home next to a forest 😊

Thank you to Heather L. Roddick and Claudia from Oakdene Vet for not giving up on her and giving her a chance.
Zulli is going to have the best life!🐕

We are making sure Protocol is being followed with the vaccs and blood tests that she needs.

Thank you Brita B. Flinner
You are taking a little bit of Africa with you ❤️
