Vaccination time !! Protect your hopping family

URGENT: VACCINATION ORDERS! 📢📢📢📢📢📢

All bunny owners please read and notify us urgently (by the 15th of December) if you would like to order the vaccination.

As per our previous post, there is an outbreak of Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV) in South Africa.

RHDV is a fast-spreading virus currently affecting large areas of the Western Cape, but the affected areas are growing by the day with a few cases being investigated in Gauteng. This virus is new to South Africa and our Rabbit population has no immunity, leading to >90% of cases being fatal.

The only effective means of preventing this fatal infection in your pet rabbits is through widespread vaccination. Exotics experts are in the process of procuring and importing the vaccine from the USA and UK.

We have been given an estimated cost of the vaccination and hope to be able to offer the vaccination to clients within the next 8-12 weeks.

The vaccination does not require a booster but will need to be administered once every 12 months to remain protective.

It is likely that vaccination will become compulsory once it becomes more readily available.

At this stage we need to confirm the number of vaccinations required for the first round of import. If you would like to be on the list to receive a vaccination from this batch please let us know before Thursday 15/12/2022.

There will be a deposit to secure your vaccination.

It is unknown if or when another batch of vaccine will be imported and what the price will be when it is.

Please contact us ASAP for price queries and if you would like us to order the vaccination for you.

🙌 Here's a handy Pre - holiday checklist when you're leaving your dog with a Pet Sitter for the first time. 🙌

✅ Make sure you have all the day to day essentials your dog will need . Like their food, favourite toy, and bed
✅ Give the Pet Sitter your vet's contact information in case of an emergency.
✅ Have a key made and label it with your name, NOT your address
✅ Give Petsitter an emergency contact of someone who can help if needed and is close by
✅Make sure you pack charges and have connection where you are going so that Pet Sitter can message you
✅Make sure the pets medication is labelled and in a safe place
✅Lock garage and rooms that may have dangerous or harmful chemicals in them
✅ Make sure garden gates are secure and locked
✅Confirm with Petsitter time you are leaving and time you will be back

💕 5 habits pet parents need to let go of today: 💕

❌ 1st habit - Walking the same route with your dog every. single. day.
❌ 2nd habit - Rushing your dog around the block and not letting them have a whiff of their favourite tree.
❌ 3rd habit - Avoiding other dogs who you regularly see on your route.
❌ 4th habit - Keeping them on a very short lead
❌ 5th habit - Letting them pull you down the road

Here's what to do instead:
✅ New habit - Mix up your walking routes to add more variety and enrichment for both you and your dog.
✅ New habit - Let your dog sniff! Give your dog time to check out the scents around the neighbourhood.
✅New Habit - Introduce your dog to other dogs on the route that are friendly and will help build confidence and social skills and you may make a new friend.
✅New Habit - Give them a little freedom on the lead to look around and be aware of their surroundings and walk at a pace that is comfortable for you and your dog so that it is a pleasant experience.
✅New Habit - Talk and reassure your dog with praise when he walks well next to you. Take a few treats for reward.

You're doing your best by your furry friend. We get that! And we know it can be easy to slip into these unhelpful habits.

🎊 I LOVE ❤️ Surprises 🎊

The English meaning is "an unexpected or astonishing event, fact, etc."

It is the Spontaneity ,Excitement and the Unknown and can only be good right ? 🤔

I started my "Farm Sit" this week and was fully expecting the normal zoo

3 goats,2 dogs,2 cats,2 rabbits,8 chickens and 8 ducks and a hampster !!!

🐐🐐🐐🐕🐕🐈🐈‍🐇🐇🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🦤🦤🦤🦤🦤🦤🦤

🦤 - cant find emoji for hampster 🙈

BUT..............

When I arrived the upstairs and bannister was barricaded with cable ties and boxes - something was a miss and I hardly thought that the barricading was for their 2 year old toddler.....

Client replied " Oh I thought we had them the last time you sat for us "

N O !!!!!!😡🤬😡

There were 4 Cute, Adorable,Little,Adventurous and Playful kittens.

"Please keep them inside as they are too young to go out ,food and litter boxes are all there"

Within 24 hours I had learnt to..
⚡️Open and close doors very quickly
⚡️how to re - enforce the barricades
⚡️Count number of kittens hundreds of times during the day
⚡️Serve 4 bowls of wet food at the same time
⚡️Clean litter boxes 3 times a day
⚡️Remove all kitty food into another room
⚡️Spend time with the other four legged fur kids in their retreats as their lives have been turned into chaos and as Elvis said " they left the building "
⚡️And.... rest when they did.....😴😴😴😴😴
