Did you know???
It's not only illegal to sell dogs on the street (fine of K1,000 in lusaka) its also contravenes The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act that can lead to a jail sentence.

With the help of our local council and the Zambian Police we are arresting these law breakers. ****In fact there's a vendor riding in a police vehicle as we post this!****

DO NOT BUY FROM STREET VENDORS!

Because YOU are breaking the law too.
-The animals are unvaccinated, possibly infected.
-The dogs are often stolen pets.
-The puppies are being prematurely separated from their mother (leading to health and behavioural problems).
-These sales encourage puppy mills that keep the parents in horrific conditions and breed sick, in**ed animals.
-The vendors keep the dogs hungry and dehydrated so they stay sleepy.

So how can we as a community help stop the illegal sale of animals?

If you can SAFELY take a photo of illegal sellers, send them to us and we'll keep working with the police and local council to have them arrested. Please also share this post as much as you can.

Together we can STOP ANIMAL 🐕 CRUELTY.
