Rottweiler puppies sure are cute, as you already know if you’ve seen the pictures below. Unfortunately, Rottweilers, like Pit Bulls, have an unfair reputation that precedes them.

Like any breed, Rottweilers can be aggressive and territorial if not properly trained or socialized. Luckily for you, aggression is not a trait this breed is known to have. They are actually known as loving, loyal goofballs who are eager to please their families.

If you’re thinking about bringing a Rottweiler puppy into your life, here are a few things you should know and consider ahead of time.

1. They Are Extremely Protective

This protectiveness is where Rottweilers get their bad reputation of being overly-aggressive.

Despite this innate need to protect, Rottweilers can be open to meeting new people and pups if properly socialized.

2. They Love Physical And Mental Exercise

Rottweiler pups need loads of physical stimulation. This breed loves to wrestle and get plenty of fetch in.

Rottweiler puppies also enjoy obedience training. They are thought to be one of the world’s smartest breeds, after all!

3. They Sometimes Forget How Big They Are

Sometimes they act like little pups when they’re leaning on you. Full grown, your Rottweiler puppy will be anywhere between 50 to 60 kilograms.

Rottweilers can also think they’re lap dogs and have no issue making your stomach their pillow.

4. Despite Tough Looks, They’ll Need Grooming

Despite their short coat, Rottweilers can make floors look like a s**g carpet when shedding in a matter of days.
Daily brushing and weekly baths will help cut down on the amount of fur that ends up everywhere your Rottweiler pup sits.

The Rottweiler breed often gets a bad reputation. You’ve probably heard — in one way or another — that Rotties can be incredibly aggressive, downright mean, and off-putting to other people. While these traits can certainly be true, and are perhaps a bit worse when it comes with a dog powerful enough to do damage, these traits don’t apply to most Rottweilers.

The personality of every dog depends on their upbringing, how they were bred, and the personality of their parents. These ‘bad’ personalities often come from poorly bred puppies that didn’t experience proper socialization.

The true personality of a Rottweiler, and what they were bred to be, is a mixture of the loyal, steadfast watchdog, and the incredibly loving homebody. Also, despite popular belief, the Rottweiler is actually one of the most intelligent dog breeds in existence.

The Rottweiler is a robust working breed of great strength descended from the mastiffs of the Roman legions. A gentle playmate and protector within the family circle, the Rottie observes the outside world with a self-assured aloofness.
