Today is “International Cat Day” 2024 a day to 😻😻!

Coincidentally, it is almost 10 years to the day that GVC became the very first ISFM certified Cat Friendly Clinic (and straight in at Gold Standard too) in the Middle East 😻!!

And…. it’s almost 10 years to the day that Dr Katrin recruited one very talented veterinary nurse from Ireland to join her team ⭐️!

Anyone else feeling snoozy 🥱😻?

This teeny-tiny nugget of kitten delight was left outside our front door last night 😞.

Too young to be alone but luckily old enough to start exploring his world and learning how to stay alive, we’re optimistic that this little fella will not only survive, but thrive ❤️.

He’ll be needing lots of love, as he grows through his socialisation period, to turn those little hisses into kisses 🤗❤️.

But… For now a snooze is all he wants, and for sure we will respect his wishes 😴💤😻.

Delightful Daisy, the oh-so gentle and gorgeous golden retriever, was such a good girl yesterday when she came in for her spay procedure 🤗🐶!

Seen here keeping Vet Nurse Emelyn company during her morning admission, Daisy’s day at GVC started off with her mum giving her a pre-visit pharmaceutical (PVP) which helped Daisy to feel even more relaxed and make it even easier to take her spay-day experience in her stride 🥰.

Why a PVP? Well, as the awesome Fear Free team say:

“The medications are intended to address specific neurotransmitters associated with fear, anxiety, or stress….. The goal is to help make your pet’s veterinary visit more enjoyable and less stressful.”

Not only is fantastic Figaro a purrfect Gent, he’s also, at over 13 years young, one of the GVC team’s most loved senior kitty patients and someone who we have had the absolute privilege of supporting throughout his life 😻🤗.

In with Dr Dana today for a Senior Health Profile, Figaro was only too happy to laze on his favourite window hammock (and stare admiringly at his own reflection) and let Dr Dana do what was needed to be done 😻👌.

We love kitten consults 😻❤️!!

Dr Sue and Vet Nurse Harold had the purrfect pleasure of meeting teeny kitten Bugsy for her first vaccine and health check today 🥰😘.

Obviously this included lots of love and treats, I mean look at that super-cute and oh-so-serious face 🤗🥰!

Creating positive veterinary interactions from the very first vet visit will help set-up our feline friends for a healthier life. Why? Because evidence shows that pet owners, and especially cat pawrents, are more reluctant to take their pet to the vet if they suspect that their pet’s experience will be stressful 🤔.

Patrick, the totally adorable Canadian Sphynx, is off on a very big adventure 🌍🛫😻!

Patrick and his pet-purrents are jetting off to Moscow and have taken advantage of GVC’s Pet Travel services which have helped make Patrick’s journey preparations super-simple ❤️.

Yes, GVC alumni Apple has returned to the GVC team 😻🥳!

Almost 3 years to the day after leaving GVC to broaden her knowledge and explore exciting opportunities in Dubai, Apple has returned with a bucket-load of new skills and experiences…. And the totally infectious smile that everyone loves so much 🥳!

Handsome Huey was only too happy to join Nurse Dani for some fun and frolics during his follow-up consultation yesterday 😻.

Rescue kitty Huey is FIV+ and has been diagnosed with several conditions, including CKD, chronic rhinitis, corneal ulcers and periodontal disease since being found last December 😿.

However, Huey now has THE most pawesome pet-pawrents who saw in street cat Huey the happy, loving kitty that he has become ❤️.

Huey first came to GVC for a second opinion with Dr Sergio in February and has been a regular visitor to GVC since ❤️.

With every visit Huey’s health has been improving, his previously long-list of issues continues to get shorter and his big-purrsonality shines through more every day 😻❤️!

The complexity of managing a treatment plan for multiple health challenges requires knowledge, skill, teamwork, compassion and, very importantly, time…. And we’re so delighted to be able to support Huey on his journey to better health ❤️‍🩹💕🥰.

Question….. What’s missing from this picture 🤔?

Well, the clue lies (literally) with the two little doggies (Misky and Winona 🤗).

You see putting your pet(s) first and understanding that our convenience is always outweighed by patient wellbeing means that the GVC team will never use a table during a dog consultation 💕🐶.

A growing evidence-base shows that placing our canine companions on an examination table can lead to one (or more) of the four F stress responses:

Fight, Flight, Freeze and Fidget ☹️

And often it is a Freeze response that is exhibited, e.g. when a pet is so stressed they literally just shut down…. Behaviour that sadly is then mistaken for “obedience” and considered as a positive thing 😢.

Remove the table… reduce the stress and, as this picture with Dr Sergio, Misky, Winona and their pawsome pet-pawrents so clearly shows, when veterinary care is delivered at the doggies level, on the floor and on your pets terms, everyone is more relaxed and able to benefit from a better experience which then supports better outcomes 🐶💕🤗.

Purrfect Poe, the Siberian Forest kitty, is absolutely loving his languidly lazy mornings perched in the most pawesome snooze spot 😻❤️.

Of course, as with all our stayCATion kitties, having plenty of play and room to roam is very much part of Poe’s day…. Or as Poe may prefer… just a better view to snooze to 👌😘!

Whilst our long term boarding is almost entirely booked for the remainder of the summer, we do have some availability for shorter stays and those occasional weekends away….
