At just three months old, she’s already shown incredible resilience. Found abandoned with a poorly healed fracture in her front leg, Lulu was struggling to walk, let alone run and play like a puppy should.

But this little fighter wasn’t ready to give up. Dr. Ajla stepped in and performed a delicate orthopedic procedure to realign her bones and give her a second chance at a pain-free life. And guess what? Just three days after surgery, Lulu was already putting weight on her leg! 🎉

Watching her bounce back (literally!) reminds us why we do what we do. Every pet deserves a chance to live their best life—no matter their start.

Here’s to Lulu, her unstoppable spirit, and the power of expert veterinary care. 🐾❤️

You might not see it, but dental health is a huge deal for your furry friend. Did you know that by the age of 3, most pets already show signs of dental disease? And no, it’s not just about bad breath (though, let’s be honest, that’s a big clue).

Here’s the lowdown:

Plaque and tartar build up just like they do in humans, but your pet can’t grab a toothbrush and fix it themselves.

Left untreated, it can lead to painful infections, tooth loss, and even affect their heart, liver, or kidneys. 😳

Signs to watch for: Bad breath, drooling, pawing at the mouth, or suddenly being picky with food.

But don’t panic! Here’s how you can help:

Brush their teeth (yes, really!). Start slow, use pet-friendly toothpaste (never human toothpaste it’s toxic for them), and make it a positive experience.

Dental chews and toys can help, but they’re not a substitute for brushing.

Regular check-ups with us! We’ll spot issues early and keep those pearly whites in top shape.

Your pet’s smile is worth it. 💕 And hey, we’re here to help if you're feeling overwhelmed. Slide into our DMs or give us a call we’ve got your back (and your pet’s teeth).

🐾 Fun fact: Cats have 30 teeth, while dogs have 42. How many does your pet have? Let us know in the comments!

Regular vet visits aren’t just about vaccines. A thorough health check-up can catch early signs of disease before they become serious (and expensive!). Here’s what every responsible pet owner should prioritize:

✅ General Examination – Checking weight, temperature, heart, and lungs for early disease detection.
✅ Dental Health – Gingivitis and tooth infections can silently harm the heart, liver, and kidneys.
✅ Skin & Coat Check – Dry patches, excessive shedding, or redness? Could be allergies, infections, or parasites.
✅ Mobility & Joint Assessment – Is your pet slowing down? Arthritis and joint disease can start earlier than you think.
✅ Parasite Prevention – Fleas, ticks, and worms aren’t just a nuisance they can transmit dangerous diseases.
✅ Bloodwork & Organ Function Tests – Early screening for kidney disease, diabetes, and thyroid issues saves lives.
✅ Eye & Ear Examination – Infections, cataracts, and hearing loss often go unnoticed until they become severe.

Prevention is Always Cheaper than Treatment.
A simple check-up today could save your pet’s life and prevent costly emergencies.

Meet Steve a fighter in every sense. He came to us with a brachial plexus avulsion, a serious nerve injury that left his leg weak and unresponsive. But with intensive care, physiotherapy, and time, Steve has made incredible progress.

What is Brachial Plexus Avulsion?
It’s a severe nerve injury that happens when the nerves controlling the front leg are stretched or torn often due to trauma. Without proper care, this can lead to permanent paralysis, muscle atrophy, and loss of limb function.

If your pet has suffered from sudden limb weakness or paralysis, don’t wait early intervention is key. With the right treatment, recovery is possible.

Freckles, a 6-year-old Belgian Shepherd, was rushed in by daycare staff after they noticed something was off rapid breathing, excessive drooling, and a slightly bloated abdomen. They initially thought it was constipation, but his symptoms pointed to something much more serious.

After a general check-up and an X-ray, we confirmed GDV (Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus) a life-threatening condition where the stomach twists, cutting off blood flow. His bloodwork showed that his kidneys and liver were already affected, meaning there was no time to waste.

Despite his owner being abroad, quick communication and trust allowed us to move forward. Our surgeon, Dr. Ajla, performed an emergency gastropexy, securing Freckles’ stomach to prevent future torsion. Without this surgery, the outcome would have been fatal.

Thanks to fast action, expert care, and the daycare staff recognizing the early signs, Freckles made a strong recovery. His story is a reminder that GDV progresses rapidly but with the right intervention, survival is absolutely possible.

Know the Signs of GDV:
🚨 Bloated abdomen
🚨 Retching but unable to vomit
🚨 Restlessness or pacing
🚨 Rapid breathing & excessive drooling

📅 GDV is always an emergency. If you notice any of these signs, seek immediate veterinary care.

Alisa, a 12-year-old Chihuahua, came to us in distress. Her pregnancy had reached a late stage, making breathing difficult and movement exhausting. Given her age and condition, carrying to term was putting her life at serious risk. After urgent assessment and bloodwork, we performed an emergency C-section a necessary step to save both Alisa and her pup.

Why Spaying Matters:
✔️ Prevents dangerous pregnancies, especially in senior pets
✔️ Reduces the risk of life-threatening uterine infections (pyometra)
✔️ Lowers the chance of mammary and reproductive cancers
✔️ Eliminates pregnancy-related complications that require emergency surgery

Alisa is now recovering with her little one, but this case is a reminder of the risks that can be avoided with early spaying. If your pet isn’t spayed yet, now is the time to plan ahead—before an emergency happens.

📅 Book a spay consultation today to discuss the safest options for your pet.

LouLou came in for his annual vaccinations, deworming, and tick & flea protection, keeping him healthy and protected all year round. Meanwhile, his younger (and slightly sillier) brother Rocky was here for a pre-operative consultation, making sure he's in top shape before his upcoming procedure.

Why does routine care matter?
✔️ Vaccinations prevent life-threatening diseases.
✔️ Deworming protects against internal parasites that affect digestion & immunity.
✔️ Tick & flea prevention stops infestations and diseases like ehrlichiosis.
✔️ Pre-op assessments ensure pets are healthy before surgery, reducing risks.

06/03/2025

Nutrition plays a critical role in your pet’s overall health, affecting everything from metabolic function to disease progression. Poor diet choices contribute to conditions like obesity, diabetes, kidney disease, and gastrointestinal disorders, increasing the need for medical intervention.

Key Nutritional Considerations:
✔️ Protein Quality & Bioavailability: Essential for muscle maintenance, immune support, and organ function. Look for highly digestible animal-based proteins rather than plant-based fillers.
✔️ Carbohydrate Control: Excess carbohydrates, especially in processed diets, contribute to obesity and insulin resistance, increasing the risk of diabetes.
✔️ Omega-3 & Omega-6 Balance: Plays a major role in inflammation regulation, skin health, and cognitive function. Unbalanced diets often lack sufficient omega-3s.
✔️ Mineral & Vitamin Optimization: Nutrient excesses (e.g., phosphorus in kidney disease) or deficiencies (e.g., taurine in feline cardiomyopathy) can have serious clinical consequences.
✔️ Specialized Diets for Medical Conditions: Pets with renal disease, pancreatitis, allergies, or joint issues require targeted nutritional support to manage symptoms and disease progression.

When to Reevaluate Your Pet’s Diet:
🔍 Unexplained weight loss or gain
🔍 Chronic gastrointestinal signs (vomiting, diarrhea, bloating)
🔍 Dull coat, excessive shedding, or skin infections
🔍 Lethargy, joint stiffness, or behavioral changes

🩺 Veterinary-led dietary management ensures optimal health outcomes, reducing long-term medical risks and unnecessary vet visits. If you’re unsure whether your pet’s current diet meets their medical and physiological needs, a professional nutritional assessment is recommended.

📅 Schedule a veterinary nutrition consultation today.

Meet Fluffy…. he spent a full week in hospitalization after suffering from acute kidney injury caused by ingesting a toxic plant. It was a tough battle, but with intensive care, IV fluids, and close monitoring, he’s finally back on his paws. His recovery could have been very different if treatment was delayed.

Many common household plants are toxic to pets lilies, sago palms, and even aloe vera can cause serious kidney damage or worse. The scary part? Symptoms don’t always show up right away, and by the time they do, it can be critical.

If your pet has ingested something they shouldn’t, don’t “wait and see.” Immediate medical intervention can save their life. If you’re unsure whether something is safe for your pet, we’re here to help.

📅 Book a toxicology consultation or emergency visit if needed Fluffy’s story is a reminder that quick action makes all the difference.

Some pets don’t just survive they fight. And Chance is the definition of a fighter. 💛

First, it was a joint infection that took weeks to heal. Then, months later, he came back with multiple fractures from trauma, unable to stand. But his owner never gave up and put full trust in Dr. Ajla, who had already helped him once before.

Despite eating well and having strong blood work, Chance started losing weight fast. At first, we feared FIP triggered by trauma, but his body held on… until fluid buildup confirmed our suspicions. A PCR test made it official.

FIP is tough, but Chance? Tougher. 💪 With weeks of GS injections, intensive care, and an unstoppable spirit, he turned a corner and made it home.

💡 Early detection and the right treatment make all the difference. If something feels off, trust your instincts and your vet.

Heart disease in pets is often progressive and can remain asymptomatic until it reaches an advanced stage. Early detection and management are essential to improving quality of life and increasing longevity.

Common Types of Heart Disease in Pets:
✔️ Degenerative Mitral Valve Disease (DMVD) – Most common in small-breed dogs, leading to regurgitation and eventual congestive heart failure.
✔️ Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) – Common in large-breed dogs, causing weakened heart muscle contractions and reduced cardiac output.
✔️ Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) – The most prevalent cardiac disease in cats, characterized by thickened ventricular walls, leading to reduced blood flow.
✔️ Conge***al Heart Defects – Such as Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) or Pulmonic Stenosis, often diagnosed in young pets.

Clinical Signs That Require Veterinary Attention:
✔️ Persistent Coughing – Often due to pulmonary edema or airway compression from cardiomegaly.
✔️ Exercise Intolerance – Fatigue and syncope (fainting) during activity.
✔️ Tachypnea or Dyspnea – Rapid or labored breathing, even at rest.
✔️ Ascites or Peripheral Edema – Fluid accumulation in the abdomen or limbs due to right-sided heart failure.
✔️ Murmurs or Arrhythmias – Irregular heart sounds detected during auscultation.

Why Early Detection Matters:
Cardiac conditions are often progressive, but early intervention with echocardiography, thoracic radiographs, and biomarker testing (NT-proBNP, Troponin I) can aid in diagnosis and treatment planning before symptoms escalate.

📅 Is your pet showing any signs of cardiac disease? Schedule a cardiovascular assessment today.

Lulu came to us with a broken hip, and while she may look relaxed now, she’s been through a lot. Hip injuries in cats can be painful and limit mobility, but with the right medical care and rehabilitation, many cats make a full recovery.

🦴 Hip fractures in cats can happen due to:
✔️ Falls from heights (aka “high-rise syndrome”)
✔️ Car accidents
✔️ Trauma from rough landings or play

The key to a successful recovery? Early intervention. Delaying treatment can lead to chronic pain, arthritis, and reduced mobility. Lulu is receiving the best care, and we’re closely monitoring her progress to ensure she heals properly.

📅 If your pet has had a fall or is showing signs of limping or pain, don’t wait—book a consultation today.
