💉 🐪 🔬 Sever blood serum Hypoglycemia could be indicator of sever Camel Trypanosomiasis .. How?

Serum glucose concentration had a significant decrease in the infected subjects. Similar results were documented by Raisinghani and Lodha (1980) in camel. This is a common finding in trypanosomiasis, and is reported due to excessive utilization of blood glucose by the parasites
for their metabolism (Anosa, 1988). It has also been shown that parasite count is inversely proportional to glucose concentration (Jatkar and Singh, 1974). Increased metabolic rate caused by fever and hepatocyte degeneration could also be a reason for hypoglycemia in Trypanosomiasis (Cadioli et al., 2006).

I had the privilege of visiting Al Fayez, one of the region’s leading veterinary facilities serving the camel racing community in Al Shahaniya. The clinic’s integrated approach, combining clinical care, pharmaceutical services, and advanced laboratory diagnostics, plays a vital role in safeguarding the health and performance of racing camels.

Their newly introduced microbiology instruments and diagnostic technologies enable faster, more accurate detection of health issues, supporting early intervention and improved outcomes.

This advancement is timely, as camel racing in Al Shahaniya continues to evolve, with notable investments in infrastructure, housing, and track development.
