Making Your Cat’s Veterinary Visit Less Stressful

We understand that trips to the vet can be stressful for cats and their owners. At Vetcare we’re dedicated to making the experience as calm and comfortable as possible!

Tips for a Stress-Free Visit:
🐾 Choose the Right Carrier: Select a sturdy, well-ventilated carrier that opens from the top and the front. This makes it easier to get your cat in and out.
🐾 Make the Carrier Familiar: Leave the carrier out at home with cozy bedding and a few treats to help your cat associate it with positive experiences.
🐾 Stay Calm and Positive: Cats can sense anxiety. Keep a calm demeanor to help your pet feel more secure.
🐾 Cover the Carrier: Use a blanket or towel over the carrier to reduce visual stimuli that might stress your cat on the way to the clinic.

What to Expect at Our Clinic:
✅ Cat-friendly exam rooms to minimize stress.
✅ Compassionate and experienced staff trained to handle cats with care.
✅ Gentle handling techniques tailored to each cat’s temperament.
✅ Clear communication about your cat’s health and treatment options.

Our Commitment to Feline Care
We prioritize your cat’s comfort and well-being. Whether it’s a routine check-up or a more complex medical issue, our team is here to provide the best care possible.

Cat sterilization, also known as spaying (for females) is a surgical procedure that removes the reproductive organs to prevent unwanted litters and provide health benefits.

Benefits of Sterilization:
• Prevents Overpopulation – Reduces the number of homeless cats.
• Health Benefits – Lowers the risk of reproductive cancers and infections.
• Behavioral Improvements – Reduces spraying, yowling, and aggression linked to mating instincts.

When to Sterilize:
• Ideally between 4-6 months old, but adult cats can be sterilized as well.

Procedure & Recovery:
• Spaying (Females): Ovaries and uterus are removed via abdominal surgery. Recovery takes about 10-14 days.
• Cats may need pain medication and should be kept calm to heal properly.

The Saint Bernard is a large, powerful, and gentle dog breed originally bred for rescue work in the Swiss Alps. They are known for their massive size, friendly nature, and intelligence. Saint Bernards are famous for their history as mountain rescue dogs at the Great St. Bernard Hospice in the Swiss Alps, where they helped find lost travelers. They are often depicted with small barrels around their necks, though that is more of a legend than reality.

Cats find comfort in their owner’s scent because it makes them feel safe and secure. That’s why they love sleeping on your clothes, bed, or even in your spot right after you get up. It’s their way of feeling close to you, even when you’re not around.

Puppies learn a lot through social play! During playtime, puppies develop critical skills such as:

1. Social Skills: By interacting with their littermates or other dogs, puppies learn to interpret body language, vocalizations, and signals like growling or tail wagging. This helps them understand appropriate social behaviors.
2. Bite Inhibition: Play teaches puppies to control the pressure of their bite. If a puppy bites too hard, their playmate may yelp or stop playing, which teaches them to moderate their strength.
3. Problem Solving: Puppies learn how to navigate challenges, like how to wrestle or chase without causing harm, which builds confidence and adaptability.
4. Boundaries and Rules: Through feedback from peers, they figure out what behaviors are acceptable and what crosses the line.
5. Bonding: Play helps puppies bond with humans and other dogs, building trust and positive associations with their environment.

Feeding your pet the correct amount of food is crucial for their overall health and well-being. Overfeeding can lead to obesity and associated health issues, while underfeeding can result in malnutrition.
It’s important to:
1. Follow Feeding Guidelines: Use the recommended portion sizes on the pet food packaging as a starting point. Adjust based on your pet’s activity level, age, and weight.
2. Consult Your Veterinarian: Your vet can help determine the appropriate diet and portion size for your pet’s specific needs.
3. Monitor Their Weight: Regularly check your pet’s weight and body condition. Adjust food portions if they are gaining or losing weight unexpectedly.
4. Avoid Over-Treating: Treats should only make up about 10% of their daily caloric intake.
5. Provide Fresh Water: Always ensure your pet has access to clean, fresh water alongside their meals.

Cats are known to sleep for 12 to 16 hours a day, and some may even snooze for up to 20 hours, especially older cats or kittens. This sleep-heavy lifestyle is part of their natural instincts as predators. They conserve energy for short bursts of hunting and play, even if they’re indoor cats with no need to hunt. Does your cat have any unique sleeping habits or favorite napping spots?

Caring for your pets isn’t what we do. It’s who we are.

VETCARE - Veterinary Medical Centre was founded in 2009 by Dr. Dominik Saurek and has become increasingly popular among local residents as well as more distant neighbors seeking professional care for their pets. Since moving to Dubai in 2002, small animal practice has allowed familiarization of the problems facing these animals living in the Middle East and specialization in these areas including dermatology, parasitic diseases and heat related problems. VETCARE is located in the Dubai Land next to Miracle Garden next to Arabian Ranches, and Motor City community and was carefully chosen to ensure easy access for the residents of Dubai Land and the neighboring fast developing areas.

Our motto is QUALITY. The principal aim of our practice is to provide you and your pets with the highest standard of veterinary care in a friendly, helpful and informative environment.

Should your pet require treatment, our practice is equipped with an extensive range of in-house equipment including laboratory analysis, computerized x-ray facilities, ultrasound scanners and many other diagnostic tools to provide a comprehensive overview of you pet and enable an accurate diagnosis. We also have a fully equipped surgical room suitable for elective, emergency and dental operating procedures. For more information about our diagnostic capabilities please refer to our diagnostic folder menu.

If you would like to book an appointment to see one of our veterinarians, specialized surgeons or interns, please give us a call on 04-4309797 or book online through the link below.
