The 3/3/3 Rule of Dog Adoption – What Every New Dog Owner Needs to Know!

Bringing a rescue dog into your home is an exciting journey, but it’s important to remember that adjusting takes time. That’s where The 3/3/3 Rule comes in! This simple guideline helps set realistic expectations for your new pup’s transition into their hopefully forever home.

🐾 First 3 Days:
Your dog may feel overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure about their new environment. Don’t be surprised if they’re shy, avoid food, or sleep a lot, this is completely normal! Give them space, keep things calm, and let them decompress.

🐾 First 3 Weeks:
Your dog is starting to feel more comfortable. They may test boundaries, reveal more of their personality, and begin to understand their new routine. This is the time to establish structure and start building trust.

🐾 First 3 Months:
Full adjustment! By now, your dog knows they’re home. You’ve developed a bond, trust is solid, and they understand the rules of the house. Training, consistency, and patience will make this transition smooth and rewarding.
