Rehabilitation progress of two fractures and a suspensory ligament injury on an endurance horse. Initial stages include box rest and treatments to reduce heat and inflammation which can be seen in the images. This is over a 2 week period. He is a lot more comfortable and is now bearing weight on that limb. He will eventually progress to stages where we load the ligament to promote strengthening and range of motion.

The ECB cold water spa is used to treat and prevent a multitude of injuries. This drug free treatment can be used for injury prevention, to increase mobility and decrease inflammation in the joints before and after competitive events or training.

Training on the water treadmill has been proven to enhance endurance and power. Water Depth, incline and belt speed are used to provide a controlled environment for fitness and strength training as well as rehabilitation of spinal conditions or injuries of the extremities. The development of specific muscle groups can be expedited and buoyancy lowers the high pressure acting on the skeleton and tendons. Also movement against the pressure of the water motivates the horse to improve their natural movement pattern. This leads to more use of the back and rear muscles creating a stronger top line, better balance and coordination.
